You know the old saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."?
Well, that's not always true. Sometimes when things get hard we just get through rather than get going.
Maybe it's the way we think about hard.
Have you ever considered what hard means to you?
Does it mean different things in different situations?
What if being hard was an invitation to be curious?
What if you could change your perspective and see hard things as opportunities to get closer to your potential?
In this week's episode, I'll share an amazing story of a woman who changed her approach when the going got hard and I'll offer you some insights to approach hard things differently in your future.
When I first began to realize the power of storytelling, I was reading the book, "Talk like TED".
The book focused on some of the most powerful TED talks ever given and what made them so moving for so many people.
Over and over, the author found that the story the speaker shared was the secret sauce.
Now I hear people's stories on a daily basis.
I hear them tell stories of suffering and sadness.
And I work to help them bring forth the story of resilience and empowerment that lays beneath the suffering.
I know that when you become aware of the story you tell yourself and others about you, you begin to see the result that story creates…the life you're living.
In this episode, I'll share a powerful experience I had listening to survivor stories and what it meant to me and to others in the room.
I'll tell you three of the most common stories I hear from my clients that keep them stuck and I'll give you a simple tip to help you see your stories through a different lens that can change the path of whatever you decide on.

When it comes to getting healthy the idea of intense workouts, hours of food prep, and giving up some of your favorite "treats" can be off-putting.
Adopting a mindset of what you can't do and shouldn't have, cheating with food, and being "bad" can make anyone want to run in the other direction.
But, what if none of that had to be a part of getting physically healthy?
In fact, what if that mindset was actually stopping you from even trying to do the things you want to support your physical health?
In this episode, I'll offer you some new ways of thinking about treating your body well.
You'll hear about finding balance and dropping the all or none mindset for the "something is better than nothing" and "what will work for me today?" mindset.
Check out this episode and get a new perspective on how getting healthy can work for you without being a chore.

After breast cancer, there's a long list of things that contribute to fatigue,
-Chemically induced menopause
-Aromatase inhibitors
-Radiation treatments
-etc…
But how often have you considered that your emotions may be contributing to your fatigue?
Intense emotions including fear and anger create a physical response in the body that uses a lot of energy.
So, why is it so hard to let go of the thoughts that create those emotions and keep you in emotional pain in addition to undermining your physical health?
Holding onto intense emotions has been shown to contribute to depression, anxiety, heart disease, poor mental health, and more.
In this episode, I'll tell you about three of the most common thoughts I see, and experience, that create resistance when it comes to letting go of negative emotions and what you can do to move beyond those thoughts and closer to joy.

Finding yourself on this side of a breast cancer diagnosis is not easy. It's not something you expect to happen in your life and it's not something you expect to have long-lasting repercussions. Yet, it does. The trauma of treatment and survival and the unsettling space of adjusting to life after treatment can have a powerful emotional toll.
So why is it so hard for women to reach out for help?
Why do we think there's something wrong or shameful about treating our emotional illness but not our physical illness?
Depression and anxiety are common occurrences after breast cancer, and no one should have to go through them alone or feel ashamed of getting support.
In this episode, I'll share some insights on the importance of valuing your mental health and treating yourself with grace and compassion when you need extra support.
No one goes through breast cancer alone and no one should struggle with the aftermath alone.

What would happen if we took "normal" off the table and looked at life with fresh eyes to decide what we want it to look like going forward?
It's so interesting how easy it is to get caught up in doing life the same way we always have for no other reason than, that's what we know.
We do what we're comfortable with, over and over.
But, what are we missing out on because of that?
What if you decided to do things differently to see what it would be like?
How does it feel to even consider that?
Who would you be if you weren't "the strong one", "the sweet one", or " the sassy one"?
Check out this week's show and let's talk about what it means to do things in new ways just because you want to.

Life after breast cancer often starts off with one big question, "Who am I now?"
If you're not
- the healthy one
- the one who never takes medicine
- the one who has boundless energy
- the one who _______ (fill in the blank)
Then who are you?
How do you show up like you "used to" when you don't feel normal now?
In this episode I'll give you the good news…you get to decide how you want to show up and how you want your life to look.
You can let go of a lot of baggage and pressure and allow the real you to show herself in all of her glory.
That's freedom.
It's healing, it's loving and it's all possible.

Chemotherapy and other breast cancer treatments can induce or intensify menopause. Breast cancer surgeries and radiation can change the way your body looks, feels, and reacts to touch. All of these things can change your sex drive and the way you choose to engage in physical intimacy.
But there's another thing that has a powerful impact on this area of your life and it's happening in your brain.
The way you think about yourself, about sex, and about the person or people you choose to have sex with can change a lot more than dryness and atrophy.
In this episode, I'll talk about the impact of thoughts on your sex life and give you a worksheet to help you examine your thoughts and begin to create the life and the connections that you want.
