Welcome to This Glorious Mess Big Kids. A twice-weekly look at parenting as it really is - confusing, exhausting, inspiring, funny, and full of surprises. So many surprises!
Should you be paying your kids to do things that they probably should be doing already?
Holly and Andrew saw a tweet this week that left them with a lot of questions. The tweet said, 'We pay our eldest $1 every time he reads a book. I'm out $120. Best investment ever'.
This got us thinking, are bribes and financial incentives a good way of promoting healthy habits? and if you were bribed as a kid, does that mean that you're more motivated by money as an adult?
Clinical Psychologist Judith Locke joins us to get to the bottom of this.
