We’re all really good at making excuses to not exercise, to not eat better, to not allow ourselves any element of self-care. But then we moan about the result. Which is usually that nothing has changed.
Well this week, I’m going a bit ‘strict school teacher’ and I’m going to be calling you out on 5 things that you need to either stop, or start doing if you want to finally start making the changes that are going to get you the results that you’re looking for.
It’s not always lovely to confront these things. But it can definitely be necessary.
So, let’s unpack this one together and get you thinking about what’s been holding you back and how you can start to overcome that and reach those goals!

Weight loss does not have to mean ‘diet’. And yet we have been led to believe that we can’t have one without the other.
However, there are some absolutely fundamental things that we need to put in place first if we want to see successful weight loss (i.e. not just losing some weight and then putting it straight back on again, but actually sustaining it for the long term).
And this is exactly what I’ll be talking about in this week’s episode of The Busy Woman’s Guide to Fitness & Wellness podcast. You’ll be learning:
Ultimately, successful long term weight loss involves a little bit more work that we think it does. It’s not just about reducing calories and then having the willpower to stay there for long enough to see the result.

Let’s be honest. Most of us spend good chunks of our lives in either the role of the Martyr or the Princess.
In the first role, we’re the put upon woman, who is dealing with everyone else’s s**t, doing all the things that everyone else in our lives needs and never ever doing anything for ourselves.
In the second, we’re blaming external circumstances every single time we’re not getting the things we want, telling ourselves it can’t possibly be our fault because we’re too busy, too tired, too unmotivated, too busy being a martyr!
And I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit in one or both of these spaces!
But I don’t know about you - but I don’t want that for myself. What I really want in my life is the Queen energy. The kick ass, knows who she is and what she wants, shows up for herself and takes responsibility for getting the things she wants Queen!
So, I’m working on bringing a lot more of this energy into my life and in this week’s episode of the podcast I’ll be telling you how you can do the same!

When it comes to a healthy body - one which isn’t in pain and which moves well to support your life and your training, we sometimes just focus on either high intensity exercise or stretching. Or a bit of both. And that’s an amazing place to start.
But sometimes we need a bit more than that. So when I talked to Eoin Everard in this week’s podcast episode (yes, my very first male guest!) I got the lowdown on what else we need to be paying attention to.
We also got into training zones that we need to be hitting in our training, AND he got honest about how to get what you need out of the men in your life. Clue: it’s the opposite of subtlety!
Come and join us to get the lowdown, some of Eoin’s top tips and some ideas on how to adapt your training for better results!

I’ve spent years trying to work out how to be more productive. And honestly for far too long I thought I just needed to power through, to hustle and that eventually I would get through the to do list.
But this mentality just meant that I stayed stuck in the same cycle, wondering why I could never quite manage to get out of overwhelm mode and safely to a place that felt a bit calmer and where I was doing the things I wanted and needed to do, without it being a constant weight on my shoulders.
Well I’m glad to say that I’ve finally learnt a thing or two about productivity. Things that I’ve started applying to my own life over the last couple of years and which have served me well. But things which may seem totally counterintuitive to being productive.
So, I’m sharing all of this with you in this week’s episode:

Sugar can be such an emotive thing, can’t it? It's our quick energy fix, our comfort, our indulgence, our reward. It can be one of our favourite things. And yet it can also be a source of real resistance and guilt and struggle.
We may have tried to get rid of our sugar addiction many many times over, but we always end up back at the beginning! Well this week I’m going to be giving you a very different approach to reducing your sugar intake. We’ll be talking about:
Ultimately, this is going to help you identify why giving it up hasn’t worked for you in the past and what you need to do to change that in the future.

This year I’ve made ONE really simple change to my own workout routine that’s helped me to go from feeling a little bit uninspired on my fitness plateau, to feeling refreshed and revitalised.
So, I’m using my own fitness journey and that one small change to inspire you to see how you can refresh your workout routine without having to tear it all apart and start over again.
Today, I’m revealing:

This week I’ve got my first repeat guest, Samala Bygraves, and we had such an amazing chat. We talked about her book, Spiral, and her experience of healing from trauma, but we also got into so much more than that, including:
This felt like a really important conversation to have and one which I know is going to get you thinking deeply about why you feel the way you feel about certain things, and how that translates into the actions you take.

As the saying goes, find some exercise you love and it will never feel hard. But is that really the whole story? I’m going to be exploring this question today and talking all about what we’re missing when we just focus on this, as well as why it may be doing you a bit of a disservice.
This is not about saying you shouldn’t find something you love, BUT it is about allowing yourself to be open to the possibilities and giving things a go - even if they don’t think they’re for you!

We all know that better nutrition, more exercise, self care are good for us. But what about when we think we’ve made the decision to make changes in those areas, but those changes just aren’t happening, in spite of our good intentions?
We can end up existing in a limbo, stuck between what we want to change and the reality of where we are in our lives, and it can just make us feel stuck.
This is where making a firm choice on which way to go can give us our power back!
We’ll be talking about:
