The Spring Festival holiday next year will last 7 days, from Jan 21 to 27, according to the national holiday plan for 2023 issued by the State Council on Friday.  

Jan 28 (Saturday) and Jan 29 (Sunday) will be marked as additional working days to compensate for the long holiday break. 

According to the plan, in 2023, there will also be a 3-day holiday (weekend days included) for the New Year, a one-day break for Tomb Sweeping Day, a 5-day holiday for Labor Day (weekend days included), a 3-day holiday for the Dragon Boat Festival, and an 8-day break for the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as the National Day holiday, which will come in tandem between late September and early October next year.

Beijing will no longer require people to show their negative nucleic acid testing results before entering public places such as supermarkets, shopping malls and office buildings starting Tuesday, according to the city government. 

北京市政府表示，从2022年12月6日起，市民进入超市、商场、办公楼等公共场所不再需要出示核酸检测阴性证明。

People only need to scan their health codes before entering those public places.

The new measures came after the city said public transportation services, including buses and subways, should not refuse passengers who are not holding negative nucleic acid testing results on Monday.

From Tuesday, the tests results are not required for entering residential communities and villages, either, according to the announcement. The residents don't need to show the test results or scan the health code.

Checking the nucleic acid test results have been an important COVID-19 control and prevention measure carried out in the city for months.

The import and export scale of the cross-border e-commerce reached 1.62 trillion yuan ($226.8 billion) in 2020, surging 25.7 percent year-on-year, and the figures hit 1.92 trillion yuan in 2021, an increase of 18.6 percent from a year earlier, realizing a rapid growth for two consecutive years.
