She asks how to raise her visibility moving forward (11:40). Kate is embarking on a new life adventure. She is starting business school in the spring but first, she wants to learn about commercial real estate- specifically adaptive reuse projects. Ellie is an actor and also works as an Administrative Assistant. She recently had her first child. It is hard to make money as an actor and she wants more than what her day job offers. She can't quite figure out her right path (14:22). Diego has reinvented himself many times. He has been a missionary, a volunteer, and a professional dancer. He is feeling the urge to change careers yet again and wonders if this is the right move or if he should stay where he is (25:20). Heidi and Ellen take questions from Annemarie and Megan. Annemarie is searching for her third chapter. She spent 20 years in luxury hotel food and beverage and five years in senior living. After losing a loved one to mental illness in 2016 she has found herself drawn to the areas of loss and grief. She wonders if she is being called to do something with that (10:38) Megan has been working for the same company for almost 17 years. She is an only child with four parents, has 3 boys, and is the sole earner for her family. Her company has asked her to relocate and she wonders if this would be a good moment to make a big change- perhaps move closer to family and do something more creative (20:22). They talk about the wonderful newsletter The Marginalian (27:38). They also talk about the series Bad Sisters; Shantaram, From Scratch, and the book Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Heidi and Ellen welcome Scorpio, the season of transformation. It is a time to delve, dive, research and heal. It is a time to wrestle and emerge changed. It is a time to get tenacious and see our work through. It is also eclipse season. They talk about the meaning of the eclipses, especially the total lunar eclipse on election day (whoa- first go out and vote, then buckle your seat belts)! They also talk about what this eclipse can mean for the politicians with Scorpio birthdays who are running for office or are impacted by this election (including Greg Abbott, Brian Kemp, Stacey Abrams, Beto O'Rourke, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton). Heidi reads the poem, The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry. Scorpio is always a threshold time. If we want to change or breakthrough, Scorpio gives us the opportunity.
Ellen loves having deep conversations about the process of building a meaningful life and career. But nothing makes her happier than Sunday night dinners with her family.
