Todays conversation is soft but one I think we need to casually have more often.

It's important to celebrate all the ways in which people come to their sexual identity. Many of us figure out our queerness in those early stages of development - maybe childhood or during adolescence. But, what if your path to queerness came to you as a surprise?

Sometimes the conversation can lead to possible pressure for people to just know and know young and never change. As Kath sat through many casual conversations at the gay bar about this, with those in community that feel like their journey isn’t valid because the struggle wasn't there, they thought it would be helpful to have a candid chat about it publicly. Because some people don't know they are queer until they find themselves randomly attracted to someone of the same gender and that is okay.

Kath is joined by their long time pal and later in life come outer Katie Williams for this conversation. Katie is a podcaster, content creator and ex sprinter. They chat exploring sexuality, relationship wisdom and gay sex nerves.

Today conversation is an important one. With trans youth having some of the highest rates of suicide, it’s time we had a conversation about why positive visibility, education and representation is so important for our communities survival. 

To make this conversation a little more soft we are joined by one of my best friends and chosen family members Sandy Mcintyre. Sandy, as well as being an enby icon is an Actor, Model, Writer, Producer and founder of Queerful - a space to tell queer stories, share queer experiences and educate not only those within the community but those who are cis, heterosexual and may have some questions unanswered.

In this chat we highlight a channel 7 spotlight piece about de-transitioning and how media representation such as can profoundly negatively affect the lives of queer people, especially our queer youth. We get into the nitty gritty of representation and what we think needs to be done to shift culture from the inside out.

Today is one of those powerful conversations that’s community driven. It encompasses the theme of this show as our guest's movement for big change all started with a conversation. 

Kath sits down with Chanel Contos to chat about ending rape culture to help women, men and queer people end the cycle of assault from both sides. 

Chanel is an activist, educator, young Australian of the year nominee and now author of her new book “Consent Laid Bare” - a book that challenges the lingering inequality that reinforces rape culture and asks boys and men to become advocates for sex centered around intimacy rather than fuelled by aggression.

Back in 2021 Channel was speaking to her friends about their experiences of sexual assault during high school. This prompted channel to take to instagram and ask other women about their own stories of sexual assault. The response snowballed and soon after she had a movement backed by many and an online petition to make consent education mandatory in Australian schools. It attracted 45,000 signatures.

Today is a hard but incredibly important conversation. With a date finally set for the Voice to parliament referendum it is time we talk about why allies should be voting yes on October 14th. 

Kath sits down with Teela Reid, a proud Wiradjuri woman, self proclaimed rebellious lawyer, and campaigner for the Uluru Statement from the Heart to chat about how this referendum came to be, the importance of it, what it will do for Aboriginal and Torres strait islander people, and how allies need to step up, not just now but always in the face of racism.

Our hope is that this conversation inspires you to have a hard conversation of your own with the people around you.

Conversations that take us down memory lane...

Kath is joined by Yasmin Suteja to have one of those conversations where you reminisce about the past with joy and learnings. To those special bonds you make with certain people that change teh course of your life.

They go back to where it all began. Yasmin who is the founder of Culture Machine, was Kath first ever agent at the age of 17 and went on to create the creative collective that was “Free radical Tv”. A year into this adventure Yasmin's brother Kai started a meme page called @urmumsyadad that soon became viral and launched us all into the spotlight. Yas & Kath reminisce on the past and reflect on what they’ve learnt from it all.
