When it comes to doing things for ourselves, we rarely push through when we’re met with discomfort. We make the discomfort mean stop, slow down, or quit, instead of using discipline and deliberate discomfort to get us to our goals.
When you go after a goal, like designing your dream life, it means you’re creating something new and different. Naturally, you’re going to be scared, there will be failure and rejection and discomfort.
It’s important to not make slowing down or having obstacles mean something and just let it be the discomfort that is inevitably going to happen when there is growth involved. Assign meaning to whatever you want, but do it to your advantage instead of your disadvantage.
This means you stop making obstacles, failures, and discomfort of pursuing your goals mean you’re out of alignment and something has gone wrong.
If you get really good at experiencing negative emotion, without being afraid of it, you won’t avoid, resist, or react to it.
You’ll learn to plan for deliberate discomfort and welcome growth with open arms.
