Momi Rapozo shares how lifestyle interventions and the Bredesen Protocol helped improve her mother’s dementia symptoms and restore cognitive function.
In this episode, Momi Rapozo shares the journey of helping her mother reverse aspects of Alzheimer’s using the Bredesen Protocol and an immersive therapeutic environment. She explains how dietary changes, lifestyle interventions, and supportive care improved her mother’s cognition and quality of life. Momi also reflects on the emotional challenges of caregiving and how the experience inspired her to create a new dementia care model for families seeking hope and practical solutions.
Momi Rapozo is a caregiver and advocate sharing her mother’s dementia journey, promoting the Bredesen Protocol, and planning a facility to improve care for aging adults with cognitive decline. She is the daughter of Roxanna Rapozo, one of the original Marama residents. After her mom’s dementia diagnosis in 2014, she searched for a way to prevent and potentially heal her mom’s dementia. She came across the Bredesen Protocol, Dr. Heather Sandison, and Marama. She has seen, first hand, the benefits of immersing oneself in the protocol and is passionate about sharing her mother’s story. Momi actively shares about her mother’s progress through her blog dementiahealing.org and her social media pages. She also hosts a meetup where she can share their experiences (what’s worked, what hasn’t) with other families. She understands the challenging impact this disease has on families and is committed to creating a world where a dementia diagnosis is not the end of the road. Momi is so inspired by the level of care that her mother received at Marama that she is dedicated to opening up her own facility in Southern California, where we can continue transforming the standard of care for aging adults with cognitive decline.
