Meet Jean, who is a 52-year-old educator, but was living like a 75-year-old when Carrie met her. Not only was Jean on insulin when we met her, but her daily blood sugar was registering in the 400’s and at those levels, she was lucky to be alive.  (Normal blood sugar is between 80-120).

Jean experienced fatigue, join pain, mood swings, was constantly getting sick and was battling Hashimoto’s. Each time Jean visited her doctor he gave her more medicine/insulin to manage her symptoms, but that only made her feel worse and worse. She realized she needed a real change to heal her body.

In only the first 2 weeks after learning how to balance her blood sugar Jean was down to an average blood sugar level of 250. She wears a continuous glucose monitor and regularly pays attention to how food affects her blood sugar. She learned to adjust where necessary and has stabilized her blood sugar.

After 4 weeks not only had she lost 20 lbs but her average glucose readings were in normal range...all without medication and while eating carbs for EVERY meal! Tune in to hear how she did it!

Meet Rosana, who from 13 years old until last January, spent her life searching for the perfect diet to get to the perfect weight. What does the word healthy really mean? It seems like lately, the word healthy means skinny to the general population. Is that accurate? And are we on the verge of taking that too far??

We, as a culture, have turned into a ‘healthy’ culture. There’s this idea of healthy-ism: it’s an excessive concern and anxiety about being harmed or getting a serious health problem if one is not following a strict way of healthy eating using clean, pure, food. But are we taking this too far?

It’s all over the internet and many of you have asked us about this. The topic of intermittent fasting is a controversial one and Carrie is digging into it today! 

Traditionally, all diets are based on the idea of deprivation. We are taught that there is a certain number of calories allowed in a day and we need to stay under that to release weight. The TRUTH is that a healthy body will release weight. Read that again.

Admittedly, we are totally obsessed with a True Crime binge session and the courtroom has got us thinking about our own motives. The motive is legally irrelevant but always admissible. Why? Because the motive really matters. Just how believable is the story of what happened?

Let’s apply this to our own health when we think about the first 5 letters in the word…MOTIV is the same as motivation! It stems from the same word, but we look at motivation as a burst of energy or commitment to doing something.

When you think about your health journey are you motivated to achieve something or is there a motive you have for doing something different?  Is it short-term weight loss you’re seeking to fit in a certain dress? Is it a healthy balance to avoid metabolic disease and live longer?

Motive matters – the behaviors become different depending on the motive.
