Ableism. It's everywhere- in the media, in our schools, in the line at the supermarket. But how many of us actually understand what it is, and the part we play in it? Alycia Anderson, founder and CEO of The Alycia Anderson Company, LLC. Working tirelessly to educate companies and other founders on diversity, equity, inclusion, Alycia considers herself a bridge for everyone to see what is possible. Born in the 70's, wheelchair bound, and with an identical twin sister who was not, Alycia's parents were her first teachers in advocacy and raised her to develop and employ her strategic tool of belief- that she could do whatever her sister could do, wheelchair or not. This practice paved the way for Alycia as she has moved through life, and career, educating, advocating and showing the world that anything is possible.
In this episode, Jess and Jess chat with Alycia about her work on disabling ableism- how ableism continues to show up in all sorts of forms, and how they can become allies in this state of being that is crying out for change.
