Elis James and John Robins on Radio X Podcast

John was transfixed by the Ryder Cup this week, but that didn’t stop him and Elis from delivering some truly narcissistic radio. Expect Clarkson news, sexy Led Zeppelin, a Bridget Jones-esque Shame Well, and plenty more.

John quotes Morgan Freeman and Elis makes Bolognese weirdly. It was an absolute hammer show today! Catch up on John’s holiday, experience some explosive shame, reminisce about 1990’s advertising, get heavily into a particularly intense gig diary and prepare for an overuse of the phonetic alphabet. Robins was sick. Elis spoke Welsh. The Studio was dark. A classic show this week, featuring a taste, some shame, an exhibition Potato Potato match and Robins behaving over-competitively in the Made Up Game. There was also a Welsh Word of The Week, some Gig Diary action & a run down of the soon to be “Holy Vible Tour”!

A very silly show this week! All fuelled by Elis having 3 hours sleep and John eating too many sweets. Find out why John is dishonest, what fried egg crisps taste like and why Elis’ name is Elis; not Mark. All this plus a Shamewell (very close to home this week), a stonking Made Up Game & even more Queen chat than usual! Remember, you can get in touch on [email protected] (if you’re on e-mail. Well, it’s been about 3 weeks since all the gang have been back together on the Saturday show, they certainly made up for their absence with a belter today.

John’s blood runs red with tomato juice, Elis struggles with words and nobody can believe that Rory Delap stat!

All that, PLUS usual favourites, Humblebrag of the Week, Shame Well and Tick off a Taste!

Comedian and author James Acaster joined John this week as Elis was away. James was grilled in #AskAcaster about tooth-brushing, Korn, Asian cuisine and Greg Rusedski's shirts. James also brought us another Classic Scrape - and no, he won't DJ your wedding. There were also two new Tastes to be Ticked Off, an extra special Keep It Session Session (featuring the lovely Robin), and bear with the boys for this week's Made Up Game. John has been the sole captain of Drive this week, Elis has been climbing mountains in Wales and the like BUT even though it’s half the team that doesn’t mean it’s been half the fun! Expect tales of Rucksacks, John lets us in on some of his patented wisdom and we ask the question, “what’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen someone drink, in the wild?” All that plus regular favourites, Humble Brag, Shame Well and Tick off a Taste! With Elis away, comedian and writer Matthew Crosby stood in for this week’s podcast. John and Matthew go over the numerous and somewhat obscure improv warm up games, John takes us through his dream line-up for Defeat Festival and Matthew mentions his must see acts at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. All this plus John’s Gig Diary, Made Up Games and the Light-Hearted Paper Review!

After learning Elis has very few life skills, the team line up a lesson for him in juggling. Meanwhile, John returns with a hilarious Shame Well and Elis asks, "what would you do with a gift of £5000?"

It was a back to business as usual master class today: A happy return to an air-conditioned studio where the vibe was free to flow without weather dependency. Expect (very) tight shorts, boiling shame, repulsive Humblebrags and a return to John’s Gig Diaries.
