Listen in to learn how to pull off awesome events for your client care program, even amid social distancing limitations.
Platinum Group does client events throughout the year. They range in size from reverse pop-bys for a Thanksgiving pie to a full-on hotel breakfast with Santa.
Don't be intimidated by logistics because Karen is going to show you how you can host fun, crowd-pleasing events that help build great relationships with your clients!
Once you know your budget you can pick your event. Great ideas include renting out movie theaters, happy hours and vendor meet-and-greets. Be creative!
Send the invitations to your A-list clients first and then when you get your RSVPs back you'll know how many more of your clients you can also invite.
Take care to plan for staffing so that the event runs smoothly. Teenagers provide excellent help in these roles! Also, make sure to cover your event. Photographs and video clips will make for great social media content and they'll also serve the purpose of enriching the event in real-time!
After the event sit down with your team to have a little debriefing session. Go over what went well and what you can change for next year. Karen encourages you to have fun with your client events and they'll pay off!

We're comin' at you with a short and sweet episode today to help you kick off your SUMMER!
First of all, even with business slowing down a bit right now, we need to keep our efforts going or you know it will take years to catch up. So, we're staying in the game! And if you need any help right now please join Empower Coaching. Karen has made it totally free so that no one misses out, since we all need support more than ever. Details below!
OK let's talk about how to make time for fun this summer. Whether it's golf with friends, an actual family vacation or just some quality time alone in nature, think of what you'll enjoy and schedule it in now.
Logistically making it work:
Karen likes to start working a little bit earlier in the morning so she is freed up to spend some time outside in the afternoon to hang out with her kids.
Is there someone you can rotate with so you can have a block of time "off" each week to do fun summer things?
Reevaluate your schedule every season. Things shift as families grow and other life changes evolve.
Time blocking as a time management strategy isn't the best fit for real estate because we have to be so flexible. We just have to be OK with a very fluid schedule!

If you are like me, you're forever trying to find the "easy button" for lead generation. We just want something we can buy or some service to subscribe to that will bring in business. The truth is there's just a finesse to it. Listen in to hear Karen explain this fine line!
Karen's main message has always been, "I'm here to help when it's right for you."
That's it.
Don't chase; it puts them on the defensive. It's not her style to ask people on the spot for referrals, to knock doors, or to chase down business, but she does have some examples of business practices she whole-heartedly believes in:
1. Social media: Can your friends even tell that you are a real estate agent from your social media accounts? Whether it's your personal or business account, it should be apparent that this is what you're good at and that this is how you help people.
2. Be the go-to person for all home-related resources. Karen wants to be the person her friends ask about vendors, appliances and advice. If you know a good plumber or painter, share the info! The next time they ask for your help it may be to actually buy a home.
3. Be focused on your geographic farm. Promote good businesses in your community. This indirectly makes you a big name in your community as well.

A little encouragement can mean a world of change. We have two beautiful stories to share that illustrate just that. Our first story is about the SATs and it's so astonishing. And our second story is about Karen's first career. Yes, in another life Karen Cooper had a completely different profession. You'll never guess what it was; you'll just have to listen. The message is that you can do wonderful things!
Another way to keep your space positive is to unfollowing social media accounts that don't feel right. If reading a post stirs up feelings of negativity, insecurity or fear, unfollow! The same goes for books. Karen was a long-time book finisher, but these days she's not afraid to either quit reading a book or set it aside for later. Protect your mindset! We need all the positivity we can get!

They say it's impossible. They say, "You can't go on vacation if you work in real estate." But, is that true?
Today Karen shows us how to take a proper vacation while still providing a high level of service to your business:
1. You don't need to keep your vacation a secret!
2. Tell your clients that your vacation starts a day earlier and goes a day longer than it actually does. (Listen in to find out why!)
3. Check your email once or twice a day while you're away so you can forward important things to your back up person, delete the junk emails, and save the emails that you will want to follow up on in a separate box within your inbox for after your vacation.
4. Don't schedule any morning appointments for your first real day back to work.
Not only are breaks from work possible, but they are necessary. If you prepare correctly, you'll return refreshed and better than before!

As we gear up to get back to normal in our businesses, whether it's because we're coming off maternity leave, illness, brokerage management position or a global pandemic, there are simple ways to build back up momentum!
In Real Estate we have two main modes: Expansion vs. Contraction. Today in Episode 23 of Empowering Women in Real Estate, Karen shows us how to take full advantage of expansion mode. (By the way, these same practices also work for new agents just starting out, too!)
We should plan on a solid 1-5 years of a little hustle. This is when you take rental listings, properties out of your immediate area and buyers. Karen is hearing that some agents' businesses are functioning at about 30% right now, so it makes sense for us to broaden our range.
Now, the more in touch you have been during your time away, the easier it's going to be to ramp up and the less time you're going to have to spend in this expansion stage. So keep having coffee over Zoom! Double down on your efforts to compensate for the restrictions you're facing.
