Karen is sharing time-saving hacks galore today on episode 13 of Empowering Women in Real Estate, the Podcast! Thanks for tuning in!
First, we've got to understand that saying "yes" to something means saying "no" to something else. We make these choices subconsciously sometimes so let's get on top of it!
Karen teaches us how to identify our high value activities and how to eliminate our low value activities. Her process for assessing our time commitments is fantastic!
It's true: there are certain things that only you can do. For Karen those things are that she wants to do her own client outreach and she also really values being the one who gets to drive her kids to school and talk to them in the car.
The other things... let's streamline the other things.
Hiring services to help you, especially in the busy season, may seem like an unnecessary expense, but stop to consider whether you can actually recoup the income working at what you do best! Cooking, cleaning, laundry and landscaping are a few examples. If you can't afford it in your business right now, find routines around these activities and you'll still add efficiency to your day!
This next tip is the real deal: Clean out your closet! You'll save so much time getting ready in the morning if your closet is full of clothes that fit and look good as opposed to having all of your favorite articles hidden under other things.
Another great trick is to use recurring timers and alarms on your phone to help you unburden your brain from constantly watching the clock and trying to remember everything.
Oh and listen to the end of the episode for handy iPhone keyboard shortcuts you need to start using!

Welcome to Empowering Women in Real Estate, The Podcast! Today I want to offer you specific markers you can use to know if you are ready to join a team and how to pick the team model that is right for you.
I'll share my experiences over 17 years of doing business, joining a Rainmaker team and moving on.
If you're new to the business and you are focusing on leads, a Rainmaker team might be a good place to start. As soon as you notice that about half of your incoming work is from personal contacts, though, I want you to re-evaluate.
There are actually many different models of teams. These other types of teams are great for agents whose motivation is leaning more toward camaraderie and marketing assistance.
Consider these aspects of the teams you are considering:
- What is the lead rotation system?
- What are the splits?
- What are the expectations of the team, especially time-wise?
The best tip I can give you is to attend a few of the open houses of the brokerage or team you are considering and chat with the agent. Talk to them about how they feel on the team.

Today I'm sharing everything I've learned about how to build a Real Estate Team! Thanks for tuning in!
My partner Vicky Noufal and I have built a real estate team that we are very proud of. This is actually a topic other agents ask me about quite often so I want to pull back the curtain and tell you how we did it!
First, we found a partnership we could really trust and we set it up legally.
Over the years, because of that trust, we've been able to cover for each other during major life events and having that documentation in place has made that possible.
Let me tell you how to recruit and hire in a way that allows the strongest candidates to stand out. I'll also teach you how to build a culture that feels like a family, how to structure splits that are fair to everyone.
I'll discuss a few different options for real estate team business models, specifically rainmaker teams and whether that model is right for you.
