& also reminding you that it's okay to put YOU first, especially in recovery from disordered eating.
In Episode 123 of the Her Best Self Pod, I share all about people pleasing.
People pleasing is very common with those in recovery from disordered eating.
The two can go hand in hand as ways to cope when life feels uncertain. Eating disorders keep you isolated, while people pleasing allows you to keep the peace, both in ways to keep you feeling safe and secure.
Just like in recovery from ED, it's important if you identify with being a people pleaser that you also grant yourself compassion and grace as you move through the healing journey.
The good news is that people pleasing is NOT a personality trait, it's a learned response.....which means it can also be unlearned!
