Disrupting Divorce: Conversations for Women

EP52: Having Faith in Your Self-Discovery with Pam Drzewiecki

Listen Later

In this episode, Pam reminds you to live your life on purpose and to not be driven by the circumstance in your life but remember that those circumstances are your hinge points in order to get to your purpose. It is part of your journey. If you know what your purpose is, it is easier to get through the circumstances. You need to take the emotion out of decision making and part of that is allowing yourself to let go of the physical things that may hold sentimental value. Things that you just place on a shelf but are not going to use. Pam tells us a great way to hold on to these emotional keepsakes without carrying the baggage with you. When going through a major life change, we tend to hold onto the guilt that is associated with it, remember that it is a fresh start. Move forward and let go of the rest.

When we are going through changes in our lives, part of the process is knowing who we actually are. Who we are and how we show up today is going to affect the person that we will ultimately be in the future. Take action that works best for you that will bring you confidence. Faith of knowing your next step is going to be determined by how you are today. All of your actions have consequences good or bad. If you are conscious about knowing who you are so you can show up as the best version of yourself, will help you through separation, divorce, and beyond. Part of the process of being your best self is allowing yourself to grieve, even if you are the one who initiated the divorce process.

You need to allow yourself to grieve and be in that moment and know you don't have to make a decision right then about the goal for the rest of your life. Acknowledge the parts in those grieving moments that are going to allow you to move forward. Keep your ears and eyes open around you and do not form the story before you know what the actual information is. We get attached to drama around things and getting caught up in the drama keeps the drama going.
