Several years ago, I struggled. With just about everything.
Some days I felt ‘fat’ and other days I was content with my body. Some days I struggled with my eating and other days I just ate naturally. Sometimes I felt attractive, and other days I hated the way I looked. And my moods! I never knew how I’d wake up, feeling up one day and down the next. And I had no idea that I could ever feel a sense of control or understanding of these moods.
My self-image fluctuated wildly. And now I know that this happened because my thoughts about myself were fluctuating wildly too.
I had no compass to tell me the truth. How I really looked and felt and what was real and what was just my story. This takes perspective and being objective about yourself.
Sometimes you have a friend who serves as your mirror. Being with her lets you see yourself as the rest of the world sees you. And then you can be objective about what’s really you.
But sometimes you need the objectivity of a professional, who can see you and help you see yourself. In truth.
Today we’re talking about how to gain some objectivity in how you view life and yourself.
