I’m Candice, 41 year wife, Mom and working part time outside of the home. We are an Air Force family nearing military retirement with 3 kids. Our eldest son is 23 currently serving in the Florida National Guard, a 16 year old son and our youngest daughter is 9.I started my IF journey the summer of 2018 when we were stationed in Illinois. I originally started the process of getting weight loss surgery at the beginning of that year. Before I hit my “that’s it” wall…. I really had accepted that I would just be overweight the rest of my life and ignored it.I had not struggled with my weight or any body image issues when I was younger/school age. I was probably 125/ 130lbs in High School. I don’t even think we had a scale. Maybe I tried the subway diet to drop a few lbs at some point lol. It was never something I really worried about. I wasn’t super athletic but I did play sports.
My husband and I had our son earlier than we would’ve planned. So I was a young Mom at 18. After the birth of my first son I gained allot of weight rather quickly (like 80lbs). It never even crossed my mind during pregnancy that weight would even be an issue. My Mom had always been in amazing shape and the women in my family were small for the most part. Same on my Dad’s side. I personally believe it had allot to do with my hormones. I had really never had any breakout/acne before but my skin went crazy with painful cystic acne at that time too. It definitely had a negative emotional effect on me. I ended up doing a round of medication/acutane and it cleared up my skin issues for the most part. My weight continued to start to climb from there over the years.
