Episode 261: How To Interrupt Yourself When You’re Eating

Do you think once you start eating that you cannot stop, until the food is gone? Or maybe until you are ready to explode? Today we are going to talk about why you might want to be able to interrupt your eating and how to do it.

Welcome to your coaching session for today.

Maybe you think I’m a little crazy for asking you to interrupt your eating.
If you’re hungry, and the food tastes good, why would you want to stop?

You want to periodically stop for several reasons:

• To learn to eat mindfully.
• To get off autopilot.
• To be able to get more pleasure from your food.
• To be able to clearly hear the signal that you have had enough.
• To know just how much food your body eats.
• And, to become a natural eater.

Have you ever been in a movie theater, eating popcorn? The movie ends, you look down at the empty container with surprise. Where did the popcorn go? Who ate that?

You were so distracted and on autopilot that you missed the pleasure of the popcorn.

That is the habit I want to help you change by interrupting your eating.

You might rebel against doing this.

I understand, my friend.
Once you start eating your lower brain will encourage you to get as much as you can.
Remember, food is pleasure, and we all want as much of it as we can get.

But I want you to pause and assess where you are.

When you are eating from hunger you will get MORE pleasure from your food than when you are on autopilot, eating without thought.
