Episode 262: Do You Have Good Excuses To Overeat? Let’s Deal With Them!

Do you have a whole collection of excuses that you use to justify your overeating? If the answer is yes, welcome to the club. Today we’ll look at those excuses and talk about how to let them go.

So, what are we working on today? Here we go!

You know how you should be eating.
Waiting for hunger.
Choosing mostly foods that love you back.
Staying connected and stopping at enough.
These are the basics, right?

But even if you know the basics I’m guessing that you still overeat.

Maybe sometimes. Maybe often.
And you probably have a whole collection of excuses that you use over and over again to justify why you should overeat.
In the moment, these excuses tell you it’s okay. Keep eating.
In the moment, the decision to eat without hunger seems to make sense. Am I accurate in describing what you do?

You know you should wait for hunger to eat.

So why might you not want to wait to be hungry?
In the moment you are experiencing an urge to eat.
Even though you’re not hungry…it’s a mental urge, not a signal from your body.

And you think that these urges are commands

And that you have no choice.
But you do, you always do.

Let’s look at some of the reasons you might be doing this….and then we’re going to look at some of the most common excuses to see if you are using any of these. Let’s get rid of those ‘innocent’ lies you tell yourself to perpetuate your overeating.
