Evil Men

This week, Chris, James and Michael welcome comedian Jackie Pirico to the pod. We kick things off by talking about: mad cow disease, frozen cigarettes, jail guys and the allure of dirtballs.

Our subject this week is American philanthropist, bird-lover, wrestling enthusiast and convicted murderer John du Pont. Born into one of America’s wealthiest and most prestigious families, John could have done anything. But a lonely childhood, a balls tragedy(?) and his failure to achieve athletic greatness chipped away at his sanity. Eventually, an unhinged John murdered Dave Schultz, a world champion wrestler who worked for him. Why? It’s unclear. Enjoy!

Be sure to download Jackie's hilarious album Dream Phone.

Be sure to watch Chris' crazy funny series Learning Nature with Chris Locke!

Welcome, listeners. This week, Chris, James and Michael are getting into the holiday spirit by discussing Jim Carrey's Grinch problems, James' recent expedition to Mexico, Chernobyl's connection to the Wayans brothers and Will Smith's shocking barf news.

But the main event is Evil Men's investigation into the Yuletide season’s most terrifying creatures. First up is the notorious Krampus, followed by the lesser-known but equally bloodthirsty Père Fouettard aka Old Man Whipper. Enjoy!

In a lot of ways, Willam Stoughton was the original Judge Judy. Serving as Chief Justice during the Salem Witch Trials (1692-1693), Stoughton was a stern and extremely pious man who truly believed he was sent by God to chase the Devil out of Massachusetts Bay. Unfortunately, his righteous war on witchcraft involved arresting four-year-olds, terrorizing elderly, deaf women, and sentencing twenty innocent people to death based on “spectral evidence.” Enjoy!

ALSO: during the intro, Chris, James and Michael talk about haunted homes, delicious late night meals and time travel.

For a brief time in the late 1990s, Lou Pearlman was one of the most powerful people in the music industry. As the impresario behind the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and the inimitable O-Town, he lived a gilded, glamorous life that was a world away from his modest upbringing in Queens. Unfortunately, he was also a conman who perpetrated the biggest Ponzi scheme in American history. And his behavior around fame-hungry teenage boys was… questionable. Lou Pearlman was a complicated man. But most of all, he was Art Garfunkel’s cousin. Enjoy!

PLUS: during the intro, Chris, James and Michael discuss old rock star feuds, skin problems and obscene acts on public transportation.

Bill O’Reilly began life as an Irish Catholic New Yorker who lived in fear of Billy Joel. Soon, he rose to become one of television’s most popular conservative opinion makers, exercising enormous influence over American culture and politics. Then it all blew up in his face, he lost his TV show for being a creep, and he was forced to become friends with Dennis Miller. This week, Evil Men examines the pissed off life of Bill O’Reilly. Enjoy!

In 1811, two brutal attacks in London’s east end shocked the city and resulted in seven mangled bodies. The man arrested for the killings was one John Williams, a sailor with a reputation as a hothead. This week, Evil Men travels back to London's sinister, foggy, vice-ridden docklands to gossip about the Ratcliff Highway murders and ask: did they get the right guy? Enjoy!

PLUS: in the intro, Chis, James and Michael discuss burlesque dancing, red hair and the value of DNA tests.
