In our third episode in this series that celebrates the incredible work women are doing for International Women's Week, The Two Jess(es) sit down for a conversation with investigative reporter and NPR's Executive Producer, Jonquilyn Hill about her new podcast Through the Cracks. WAMU's new series investigates the disappearance of 8-year-old Relisha Rudd, who disappeared from a DC homeless shelter in 2014.

Through her work, Jonquilyn continues to bring dignity to the forefront as she asks the really difficult, and often uncomfortable, questions related to class that divide a city like Washington DC. She addresses the underlying issues that have formed the infrastructures that allow people, children like Ralisha, fall through the cracks.

Yet another inspiring woman who is asking hard questions, waiting patiently for answers, and continues to make disenfranchised voices heard as she continues to tell stories that need to be told, must be witnessed, and demand to be understood, in order to make lasting change for those in our communities who are the deepest in need.

Meet Jonquilyn Hill!

Jonquilyn Hill is host of the investigative podcast Through The Cracks from WAMU and PRX. She's also a senior producer for NPR's weekday news-talk show 1A, and was on the team that helped launch the show. Before joining WAMU, she worked on NPR’s 2016 Elections Desk.

Jonquilyn grew up in Kansas, Missouri, and attended high school in New Mexico, where she volunteered at NPR member station KUNM. She graduated from Howard University where she majored in journalism and minored in political science.

Prior to producing public radio, she worked at NBC’s Washington Bureau and for NY1. She's called D.C. home for over a decade.
