One thing that is critical for franchisors to get right is training.
Franchisees with poor training are at a disadvantage right from the start--and remember, Franchisee success IS Franchisor success.
My friend, Stacey Barnes, is a rockstar at training. He's been in the game for over 20 years. He's helped franchisors develop solid training departments and has his own experience as a franchisor and franchisee.
Today, Stacey joined me to talk about all things training: Why franchisors must have excellent training for their zees, what great training actually looks like, how trainers should view their relationships with franchisees, and much more!

Today Erik is joined by Gary De Jesus, Master of Brand Development, to talk about the dos and don'ts of branding.
Erik and Gary walk through the misconceptions many (if not most) business owners have when it comes to marketing, branding, and brand development.
To build a successful, long-lasting brand, takes much more than a cool-looking logo...there are much deeper psychological components that most people miss.
This episode is super helpful to any franchisors who are looking to build their brand the right way and also those considering purchasing a brand.

Today, Erik is joined by the Redneck CEO himself, Gary Findley.
Erik and Gary talk about the mindset and methodology that took Gary on a journey of running his own businesses, serving as a franchise owner of multiple franchise brands, and ultimately becoming an executive to grow some of the largest franchise networks across the country and around the world.
Gary recently released his book "The Redneck CEO" which takes readers through his own business journey, from making millions to losing it all and starting over, all while staying true to his principles for success: integrity, faith, and hard work.
Gary recently appeared on @Undercover Boss in his business Restoration1. You can check out the episode on @CBS here: https://www.cbs.com/shows/video/Y9K7jbbSJPIP2bUN47OVF8mgJ7O7nCXa/

With over 30 years of experience helping new and seasoned entrepreneurs award more than 10,000 franchise locations worldwide, Gary Findley is a master at business development. Today he serves as the CEO of Stellar Brands, an umbrella company uniting Restoration 1, bluefrog Plumbing + Drain, The Driveway Company, Softroc, and potential future acquisitions under one multi-branded service organization. Together, they include more than 350 franchise locations across the U.S. and Canada. In addition to these home service brands, the Stellar Brands platform also includes FranXperts, a leading franchise consulting and development company.
Gary also serves as operating partner of franchising and home services for MPK Equity Partners, the private investment firm over Stellar Brands whose principals have invested in, founded or run nearly 100 companies with an aggregate transactional value approaching $10 billion. And he was appointed to the Advisory Board for the Titus Center for Franchising at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
As the self-proclaimed “Redneck CEO,” Gary credits growing up in the small, rural town of Axtell, Texas, for instilling his strong work ethic and unshakeable faith, the keys that have carried him through life. That foundation fed his entrepreneurial drive and led to running his own businesses, serving as a franchise owner of multiple franchise brands, and ultimately becoming an executive to grow some of the largest franchise networks across the country and around the world.
From 2008 to 2013, Gary was the chief operating officer of Snap Fitness, a global franchise brand with over 1,200 locations. Before that, Gary served as the founder and CEO of The Findley Group, an award-winning franchise development company that helped launch and grow more than a dozen brands. Prior to starting The Findley Group, Gary was president of Curves, a women’s fitness franchise where he led franchise development efforts and grew the system to more than 8,000 locations in eight years. Gary began his career at The Dwyer Group (now Neighborly) where he was vice president of franchise sales for Rainbow International.
Gary is the author of The Redneck CEO, a book that details his business journey and his principles for success.

There's no doubt Robert Kiyosaki's cashflow quadrant has helped me as an entrepreneur to have a tangible map to assess whether I was setting myself up to continue to trade my time for money (poor dad) or was on track to move into the quadrants that would allow my money to work for me (rich dad).
The thing is, many (and maybe most) franchisees get into franchising because they have the desire to experience freedom in their lifestyle.
However, far too many zees get stuck working IN their business which means they essentially bought themselves a job.
In other words, they went from actively earning money before becoming a franchisee, to actively earning money as a franchisee.
The thing people want to know is--HOW do you move from making money actively to making it passively?
Well, the truth is there are many ways to make that leap. 🎯
This is how I did it. ⬅️
