In today’s episode I’m very excited to have my good friend, Emily Reuschel, on the podcast! We talk about how life-changing personal growth can be, ripple effects and the connection to drawing good movement, the power of self-awareness, not stressing about other people’s opinions and expectations of you, and more.
Emily Reuschel is a farmer’s wife, mom of three, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, host of the Gather in Growth podcast, and the leader of retreats and masterminds that propel rural women toward their truest, most-aligned goals and priorities. She helps other rural women get clear on what they want, release the inner dialogue that keeps them stuck, and build a life of intentionality and purpose …. without giving up the small-town life they love.

Back by popular demand, I have my husband, Tom (formerly known as Mr. FFB) on the podcast again today! I received some questions regarding internships (for those who are offering internships and those who are interns as well), so we thought it would be fun to answer those and give our best advice for making the most of an internship.

Today’s episode is going to be a little more of a somber one, but it’s something I feel very strongly about, and it’s important to share with you. I want to talk about grief, because seven months ago today, I was thrust firsthand into learning about it when my dad suddenly passed away. I’ll also be covering more about how our society views grief and closure, what it looks like for joy and grief to co-exist, helpful things you should (and should not) say to someone who is grieving, and more.

In today’s episode I have my good friend, Ashley Machado, on the podcast! She’s truly been a wealth of knowledge for me when it comes to my own mental health, and she has so much goodness and wisdom to share. We’re talking more about curiosity and gaining self-awareness when it comes to mental health, how mental health plays a big role when it comes to our relationships and how we communicate with others, what a ‘mental health toolbox’ is and how we can use it, and more.
Ashley Machado is a Tedx speaker and has been selected as a 2023 FFA Change Maker. She is rethinking the way we support Mental health in the food and ag space. She specializes in tangible tools and simple strategies through mental health trainings for ag families and businesses alike. Ashley grew up in the dairy industry and now farms and ranches with her family in California's central valley. She has her BA in human development and masters in social work with an emphasis in clinical mental health. Her goal is for everyone in the ag industry and rural America to have the tools they need in their mental health toolbox to operate and live life fully.

Today’s episode is going to be all about gratitude, because it’s Thanksgiving week in the United States! While it’s amazing to practice gratitude during the month of November, I believe it’s something that is important to do year-round. I’m excited to talk about the two main types of ‘fuel’ the brain runs on (it’s truly fascinating to me how God designed our human brains), what it can look like to have a gratitude practice and joy journal, simple steps for increasing joy in your everyday life, and more.
I recently learned that joy is a supra emotion (meaning it connects with other emotions at the same time) - it’s not just synonymous with happiness like I used to think. Joy is contagious, it’s VERY much needed, and it draws good movement. This is a short and sweet episode, but I hope it’s valuable for you as you focus on fostering joy during your holiday gatherings, and throughout your entire year!

Today’s episode is going to be more of a story-centered one for you, and it’s definitely a good one! I’m excited to share more about how I got to where I am today - essentially, the evolution of Good Movement. I’m talking more about my upbringing in agriculture’s impact on me, what it looked like for me to step away from the career I knew and was comfortable with, why I decided to finally share more about the principles of Good Movement with others, and all of the life that happened in between.
I feel like I’ve always been living the dream (and I don’t mean that sarcastically), but my dreams have changed and evolved as I’ve gone through different seasons in life. I’ve experienced a LOT over the last few years, but ultimately, I know my dream is to help humans truly understand and communicate with their fellow humans. It’s been fun to see all of the pieces of the puzzle come together, and I’m excited for what’s ahead too!

I’ve been sharing about good movement on social media for a while now and one of the most common questions I get is: “How do I learn good movement?” It’s a good question and it's also a hard question to answer because there isn’t a step-by-step guide to good movement. In today’s episode, I’m going to share one of the pieces to learning good movement and that is self-awareness.

Welcome to the first episode of Good Movement Draws Good Movement! I’m so excited to have this podcast out into the world and to have you listening in today. Thank you for being here!
Today I’m sharing what exactly good movement means and my story of taking this concept from not just cattle, but applying it to human interactions as well. What if we could all move forward in good movement? Reduce meaningless stress, improve our health, and effectively and effortlessly communicate with others.
The principle is simple, but not easy. You can’t force good movement. So that’s what this podcast is for; to learn how we can all draw good movement in our relationships, interactions, and lives and make the world a better place.

In stockmanship (the art and science of handling cattle in a safe, effective, low-stress manner), we have this phrase . . . good movement draws good movement.
It’s this thing that happens when we ask a small group of cattle, maybe a cow, or a pair to move out in a certain direction and their movement draws the whole herd into moving in the same direction.
Good movement happens when we approach the cattle with a positive attitude, read and really listen to what they’re telling us, and communicate accordingly.
We don’t approach the aware, flighty cattle the same as we do the tame, docile cattle. We adjust ourselves, our energy, and approach, and communicate with each differently.
These adjustments help us effectively draw good movement from each, which then draws good movement from the herd. But it starts with us.
The same is true for humans. Good movement starts with us.
Welcome to Good Movement Draws Good Movement, the podcast where farmers, ranchers, and rural folks can grow relationally through awareness, understanding, and effective communication.
Hey, it’s me - T. I’m your host, and I, along with my guests, will be covering topics related to drawing good movement - things like self and social awareness, brain science, positive psychology, extending grace, and so much more.
We’ll share tools that can help you understand why you are the way you are, why others are the way they are, and how you can use that to step out of self-told lies with grace and compassion to draw good movement in conversations, relationships, and life in rural America.
Tune in every Tuesday and make sure to hit subscribe so you never miss an episode! Let’s go draw good movement!
