This week’s episode is about mental health but it’s also a raw story of dark depths, attempted suicide and the ability to overcome and deal with the thoughts inside your head.
Graham McCormack is a former MMA fighter who in recent years has been very open about his battles with anxiety, depression and mental health.
It’s perhaps the last thing you would expect to hear from a combatant in the ultra-alpha male sphere of combat sport, but I’m delighted to say that Graham joined me on the show to talk about his journey, his advice and his willingness to be open about his problems in the hope of helping others.
We need more people like Graham McCormack willing to talk frankly and honestly about their battles so that we can raise the growing issue of mental health in Ireland.
If you have been affected by any of the issues in this interview, please contact the Samaritans helpline 116 123, Aware helpline 1800 80 48 48 or Pieta House on 1800 247 247.
