I found Melanie through the Fasting Mimicking Diet newsletter. I saw she studied (as have I) at the prestigious research based University of Southern California with Dr. Valter Longo who created the Fasting Mimicking Diet and one of TIME's 50 most influential people in healthcare. She popped up in a university newsletter, I investigated further, I loved her website and the holistic approach she takes to nutrition. She specializes in gut health and is based in Los Angeles.

Today’s guest will teach you something new. Dr. Bill Lawrence talks about his clinic trials on bioregulator peptides. If you don’t know what a bioregulator is, you will once we get done and you will thank Dr. Lawrence for exposing this incredible molecule to you.

Dr. Lawrence used to be a lawyer. He has a Law Degree from UCLA (my alma mater!). He is also a successful businessman who decided to turn his life, and perhaps fate, around with an interest in living longer and better…So, he ditched the business world and delved head first into science and the world of nutrition coming out with a Ph.D. in Nutrition.

Since 1990 his focus has been on slowing and reversing human biological aging. Along the way, he has developed a lot of science-based optimal aging practices for health professionals and individual clients. Optimal aging is very different than “normal healthy aging” and we will explain what this means in the interview.

Currently, Dr. Lawrence is the administrator of two clinical studies in collaboration with Dr Vladimir Khavinson of the Saint-Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology to see if human biological age can indeed be reversed. We learned all about Dr. Khavinson in my first episode on bioregulator peptides with pharmacologist Phil Micans, so I encourage you listen to that episode as well.

By the way, Dr. Lawrence is chronologically 75, but his ‘biological age,’ based on telomere length is now 35.

Rachael D’Aguiar is a beauty guru who understands the science of skin and wrinkles and shares with us how wrinkles grow, why they grow, what is accelerating this growth and what we can do to reverse this growth! In 2013, she created a new company Chase Life Extension Foundation Ltd (CLEF), which procured the rights to TAM-818. If you haven’t heard of it, this is what is claimed to be “the world’s most effective Telomerase Inducer”, which was founded by the father of the telomere Dr. Bill Andrews. Don’t worry, Rachael explains what is telomerase. She then went on to create the scientific skincare brand, One Truth 818, and commissioned very comprehensive clinical testing that demonstrated how telomerase can be induced topically.

Rachael is really into anti-aging science and research and has even donated over $500,000 to scientific research to help find cures for age-related diseases such as Alzheimher's and cancer, which is also led by Dr. Bill Andrews.

Over the last several years Dr. Amy Killen has been on the podcast circuit, smashing Instagram and speaking at loads of health conferences all over the world with leaders in the longevity space like David Sinclair and Dr. Sandra Kaufmann. She stands out, because her jam is “Sex and Skin”. Two things we all want to keep glowing as we age. Today we bust some myths and reveal some truths on women’s sex lives in middle age. 

Dr. Killen is board certified in Emergency Medicine, but she decided to pivot her career into the field of regenerative medicine and medical aesthetics. Clinical nutritionist and Aussie Craig Burton shares his knowledge on how to recognize if you're pre-diabetic and how to reverse it before it goes into full blown diabetes.

Craig has over 20 years experience as a health coach, and has achieved many qualifications in nutrition, as well as in health and fitness along with mental and lifestyle coaching. My guest today is someone I had the pleasure to meet over 25 years ago and someone I have been blessed with to have as part of my life ever since. I have been watching him evolve and create unbelievable things that actually matter to the planet since I was in my 20s.

It’s an honor to have Dr. David Edwards on the Hack My Age podcast…25 years later!

David Edwards is a Harvard researcher who, I remember around the 90s was researching and designing inhalable medicines and vaccines that could be delivered to the lungs instead of taking a pill or shot. It sounded so sci-fi to me at the time. But he did it.

As long as I have known him he has always been working on new ways of improving human health and wellbeing through the air we breathe as well as so many other modalities.

In the late 90s he founded and eventually sold a startup called Advanced Inhalation Research (AIR), So, you can see he has been involved in the respiratory system and treating infectious diseases through the airways for quite a long time.

For 18 years, David was the Professor of the Practice of Bioengineering at Harvard University in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and later transitioned to Associate to lead the startup of FEND and support the startup of the nonprofit Next Breath.

in 2004, he was studying how to protect people from one of the most horrible, airborne biological weapons of our time: anthrax. 

He is now one of the world’s leading respiratory health scientists and today is on a mission to help all of us breathe and move about safely during this pandemic with what TIME magazine has called “The best invention of 2020”, FEND, and we talk about this really cool gadget today.

David’s been recognized by many international organizations and has received an incredible number of honors and awards. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering in the US and in France, he’s also a member of the National Institute of Inventors, and a Chevalier of the Arts & Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. 

He loves writing. He gets up super early while we are all sleeping to write. It’s a real passion of his. You can check out his recent book Creating Things That Matter, which won a 2018 Nautilus Book of the Year Award.

I can go on and on about David, he’s done so many brilliant things and he is a true inventor creating a ton of other cool stuff, which we won’t get into, because my focus today is his latest invention, FEND and airway hygiene.

Pelvic floor specialist Kim Vopni is known as the Vagina Coach and she’s disrupting taboo topics to help women all over the world overcome problems of our most intimate parts, like vaginal prolapse and incontinence, which is a bigger problem than you may think.

I first met Kim Vopni because members of the Biohacking Women 50+ club on Clubhouse were telling me to reach out to her so we can talk about vagina issues related to our age group like sneeze pees and vaginal dryness. Yeah, we talk about everything in that club. I was blown away by what she told us and love that she does not accept “light bladder leakage” as just part of being a woman. Thank you!

Kim is a very qualified pelvic floor specialist and fitness professional. She also has a degree in Psychology and a postgraduate certificate in Health and Fitness.

She writes books and regularly speaks publicly to campaign for women’s health. She just wrote a book earlier this year called Your Pelvic Floor.

Kim is the founder of Pelvienne Wellness Inc – this is a company that gives pelvic health programs, products and coaching for women in pregnancy, motherhood and, yes, menopause. She also created a really cool recovery and birth prep system for pregnant women called the Ab System.

Dr. Stacy Sims is a true pioneer in the field of exercise physiology and nutrition, because she has been unraveling some horrific truths about science and research and how it relates to women. Things like showing how most studies are done on men, because women are “too complicated” with their hormones and cycles, and how many products, drugs and treatments are designed by men for men based on this research.

As a researcher, innovator and entrepreneur in human performance, Dr. Sims is truly a beacon of light for all women out there to understand our sex differences in training, nutrition and environmental conditions. She has combined her knowledge and experience in books like ROAR and a new one coming out called Next Level: Your Guide to Kicking Ass, Feeling Great, and Crushing Goals Through Menopause and Beyond. 

She has also launched some kick ass online programs that women of all ages rave about, but the one we are going to talk about today is MENOPAUSE FOR ATHLETES. I’m now going to give you my honest opinion. This program blew my mind. It is THE best one I have ever gone through. I am already 51 and I have gone through A LOT of them. And I know I am not the only one out there with this opinion.

Dr. Sims is highly qualified to talk about topics like menopause, hormones, food and training. Back in 2007, she was the exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist at Stanford University where she specialized in sex differences for recovery and performance. And if you do a Google Search, you will find a ton of studies that Dr. Sims has published. She’s really dedicated her life to challenging the existing dogma for women in exercise, nutrition and health and has created an incredible community of feisty menopausal women along the way.

She now lives in New Zealand with her family and continues to do the amazing work work she does for all of us from there.

Clinical Nutritionist Amy Lamotte explains how to do research when trying to hack your health. She gives great tips on how to analyze data and understand studies in order to not be fooled by a "poor" study. 

Amy Lamotte is the Managing Director of Vallotte Nutrigenomics Limited in Hong Kong. She is a clinical nutritionist and researcher specializing in personalized nutrition, nutritional genomics, nutrition for anti-aging, circadian biology, and the microbiome. She has a Master’s of Science in Human Nutrition (summa cum laude) from the University of Bridgeport and a J.D. from Yale Law School.

Amy is paving the way in the biohacking space with her knowledge, experience and love of science.
