This episode focuses on how to actually feel your feelings – something that is so much easier said than done, right? Truly feeling our feelings is a challenge especially if you are someone who has experienced trauma, and the common go-to coping mechanisms are avoidance, intellectualising, overanalysing. Sound familiar? In this episode, we'll explore why you may struggle to feel your feelings and some practical tips on how to reconnect with your body and your emotions.

This episode guides you through what to do when you're "spiralling". The downwards spiral is a very common experience for those living with complex PTSD – one second you're triggered, then your thoughts start racing, you start catastrophising, everything all of a sudden feels overwhelming and before you know it, you're lost in the vortex.
We chat about what "spiralling" feels like, the mindbody connection, and I share some tips and insights that can help you navigate those moments when you feel like you are starting to lose control.

In this episode, we dive into a topic that can be both incredibly challenging and also deeply healing – navigating relationships with our parents. This is a topic that many childhood trauma survivors struggle with, especially when we have grown up in environments where our boundaries and our needs weren't respected or even acknowledged. Here, we unpack how to relate to dysfunctional parents and how to navigate these challenging parent-child dynamics. We explore how to protect and advocate for your inner child, whilst also balancing the needs of your healthy adult self. I offer some practical tips for setting and enforcing boundaries, and look at managing expectations with parents and practicing acceptance. And finally, for those of you who may be considering it, we'll be wrapping up this episode by discussing when and how to go no contact.

In this episode, we dive into the complex world of relationships, focusing on how trauma can shape and challenge our connections with others and discuss everything from disorganised attachment to dissociation during conflict. For those of us who’ve experienced childhood trauma, these early disruptions — like attachment wounds, abandonment, rejection, emotional neglect, and abuse — can make navigating relationships particularly tough. By the end of this episode, I hope you come away with some clarity and insights on how to form and maintain healthier relationships.

"Soma" is the Greek word for body, and somatic therapy refers to a range of body-based therapeutic approaches. Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic therapy emphasises the mind-body connection, acknowledging that trauma is often stored within the body. This episode explores how somatic therapy (and its interventions such as mindfulness and nervous system regulation) can play a crucial role in healing trauma and supporting your overall wellbeing. Tune in to discover what somatic therapy looks like in practice and how it can help you on your healing journey.
