Kamlyn is a current member of Out of the Cave’s 14-week group coaching program and sits down with Lisa to talk about the importance of being seen and heard even when the work isn’t “done.”

[3:50] Kamlyn describes her relationship to feed and eating as “normal” in the first 5 years of life and describes her parents divorce and mother’s psychiatric diagnosis as a turning point
[4:34] Because of her mom’s schizophrenia, Kamlyn describes going long stretches without adequate access to food and how that impacted her habits around food and ultimately her body size and how food became something in her life she could control
[6:22] Kamlyn describes her first [nonconsensual] diet at 8 years and why she began to eat in secret the subsequent  shame  she  felt  at  such a young age
[8:10] Kamlyn describes diet culture in the south in the 70s and 80s and her use of diet pills
[10:00] Lisa does a real time check-in and asks Kamlyn how it feels to share her story and  be vulnerable
[11:45] Kamlyn talks the power of “we” and reaching out for help to begin to unpack her story around her trauma surrounding food, eating and body image and her instant connection to Lisa
[17:06] Kamlyn shares what other “vices,” in addition to food, that she used to cope with stress and difficult emotions
