  • California Equestrian Arrested for Attempting to Hire Hitmen to Kill Estranged Husband
California equestrian Tatyana Remley, is currently behind bars after allegedly attempting multiple times to hire hitmen to kill her estranged husband, Mark Remley. According to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Remley is charged with solicitation of murder and two weapons charges. She is currently being held without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee, California, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into Remley’s suspicious activities following a house fire at the ranch owned by the couple in Del Mar, California. Mark Remley claimed to The Coast News that Tatyana intentionally set fire to their home after he allegedly discovered her plan to kill him in early July. However, in the divorce papers filed in July, Tatyana stated that she and a friend were present at the time of the fire but were unaware of its origin.

Mark also claimed that Tatyana offered a mutual friend $2 million to kill him. However, the friend declined the offer and informed Mark, who then reported the incident to the police, instigating a sting operation. The Sheriff’s office confirmed that they summoned an arson unit to the fire scene, and Tatyana was initially arrested for alleged "firearms-related offenses" after officers discovered three firearms and ammunition on her. Following this, an investigation into her alleged murder-for-hire plot commenced after receiving information about her intentions.

A month after the initial investigation began, Tatyana met with an undercover officer, believing him to be a hitman. According to the Sheriff's Department, "She provided detailed information on how she wanted her husband killed and his body disposed." Additionally, Tatyana brought three firearms and US currency as a down payment for the murder. The meetup and subsequent arrest occurred at a local Starbucks, as reported by The Coast News.

The Coast News has extensively reported on the Remleys' high-profile business failures. In 2012, the couple ran a short-lived equestrian acrobatics show, which they discontinued after only four shows and over $100,000 of investments. They claimed the show was canceled due to poor ticket sales. However, this decision left dozens of performers unpaid and stranded, along with their horses. Some crew members stated that they had uprooted their lives to travel across the country and join the production, initially planned as a five-city tour.

The Remleys married in 2011, and their relationship has reportedly been tumultuous in recent years, marked by numerous separations and reconciliations.
The arrest of Tatyana Remley for allegedly attempting to hire hitmen to murder her estranged husband has sent shockwaves through the community. With a history of business failures, a tumultuous relationship, and now charges of solicitation of murder and weapons offenses, the saga of the Remleys' relationship seems far from over. As Tatyana prepares for her upcoming court appearance, many questions remain unanswered about what led to this dark chapter in their lives.

  • When A Beauty Queen Bubble Bursts into Murder
A former beauty queen's life dramatically transformed from the pageant stage to the courtroom with the latest revelations of her involvement in a nefarious murder plot that rocked the serene islands of the Bahamas.

Lindsay Shiver, the former Miss Houston County and second runner-up in the National Peanut Festival pageant, as reported by WDHN-TV, was arrested along with two co-conspirators, Terrance Bethel and Faron Newbold, on charges of conspiracy to commit murder. At the heart of this scandal is an alleged illicit affair and an intricate murder plot aimed at her husband, Robert Shiver, a one-time Atlanta Falcons player and prominent local figure.

According to the Bahamas Court News, the three were taken into custody in late July following an investigation into a separate incident at a local bar in Guana Cay. The investigators stumbled upon a trove of damning evidence in the form of WhatsApp messages exchanged between the trio that reportedly outlined their meticulously planned attempt to murder Robert Shiver. Bethel, 28, is reported to be Lindsay's lover, further complicating the narrative.

The police report, referenced by the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, states that on July 16, 2023, the threesome "while being together did, with a common purpose agree to commit an offense, namely the murder of [Robert] Shiver." This damning evidence was unearthed during the investigation and has since cast a dark cloud over the usually peaceful islands of Abaco.

Lindsay and Robert Shiver owned a home in the Bahamas, a locale in which she allegedly began her extra-marital affair with Bethel. Robert Shiver, on becoming aware of this betrayal, promptly filed for divorce. In his filings, which were reported by CNN, he cited his wife's "adulterous conduct" as the main reason for their marital breakdown. Lindsay, in her retort, claimed that she had "incurred debt beyond her means to pay" and sought financial assistance from her husband.

In a dramatic turn of events, the former beauty queen and her alleged accomplices were granted bail. Lindsay Shiver's bail was set at a hefty $100,000, while Bethel and Newbold's bail amounted to $20,000 each. Intriguingly, it was Robert Shiver who came forward to bail the three suspects out of jail on August 1, as reported by Bahamas Court News.

After their release, stringent measures have been implemented to ensure the three suspects remain within the law's reach. Lindsay Shiver has been fitted with an ankle monitor and ordered to stay within the boundaries of the Bahamas until her next court appearance, slated for October 5. Bethel and Newbold have also been fitted with tracking devices and are required to report to Marsh Harbour Police on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays before 6 p.m., ensuring a close watch is kept on their movements.

Lindsay Shiver, who once held the title of Miss Houston County in 2005, now finds herself embroiled in a scandal that has marred her reputation. In contrast, her estranged husband, Robert Shiver, a former Auburn University football player who also spent a brief period on the Atlanta Falcons roster, has reportedly returned to his home in Thomasville.

As this sensational case unfolds, the Bahamas, often a haven of tranquility and idyllic beauty, has been thrust into the spotlight for a scandal that reads like a crime thriller. The truth behind these allegations will unravel in the coming months.

  • Idaho Judge Seizes Control of Courtroom Cameras in Bryan Kohberger's Student Murders Proceedings
In a significant development in the highly publicized quadruple university student murder case, Idaho District Judge John Judge has granted defendant Bryan Kohberger's request to remove media cameras from the courtroom. However, the proceedings will continue to be accessible to the public through a court-provided live stream on Judge John Judge's YouTube channel.

The decision to limit media camera access follows months of intense scrutiny and coverage of the case. Judge John Judge justified this move, citing concerns about the overwhelming focus on Bryan Kohberger and the resulting negative headlines and news articles. He believes that the continuous photographing and video coverage of Kohberger's actions inside the courtroom should cease.

In his ruling, Judge stated, "It is the intense focus on Kohberger and his every move, along with adverse headlines and news articles, that leads the Court to conclude that continued photograph and video coverage inside the courtroom by the media should no longer be permitted."

The court's decision also includes restrictions on members of the media and the public. They will no longer be allowed to record their video or audio during future hearings. Instead, a court-provided livestream will be available for public access through Judge John Judge's YouTube channel. Additionally, Judge denied a motion by a media coalition to intervene in the case.

Judge John Judge expressed frustration with the media's past behavior, accusing them of violating his previous directives. He specifically mentioned the media's tendency to exclusively zoom in on Kohberger's face and record before or after court sessions, contrary to his requests.

"Additionally, defense counsel has raised continued concerns with video footage and photographs capturing private documents on counsel table. This is again in violation of the Court’s directives," Judge wrote. "The State has also raised issues of vulnerable victims and witnesses being filmed during testimony. At this juncture, the Court has no confidence that directives to stop photographing or videoing during such testimony would be adhered to."

The case revolves around Bryan Kohberger, who stands accused of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students in a brutal attack that occurred in a rental home where three of the victims lived. The victims, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, all 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20, suffered multiple stab wounds during the attack. Some of them were asleep at the start of the incident, and investigators found a knife sheath with the suspect's DNA under one victim's body.

Bryan Kohberger, who is about to turn 29, was pursuing a Ph.D. in criminology at Washington State University at the time of the crime. He holds a master's degree in criminal justice from DeSales University in Pennsylvania.

During his arraignment in May, Kohberger declined to enter a plea. As a result, Judge John Judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf on four charges of first-degree murder and one charge of felony burglary. If convicted, Kohberger could potentially face the death penalty, specifically execution by firing squad, under Idaho law.

As the case proceeds with heightened public attention, the court's decision to limit media camera access aims to ensure a fair trial while reducing the intense media focus surrounding Bryan Kohberger and the quadruple student murder case.

  • Donna Adelson Arrives in Tallahassee to Face Charges in Dan Markel Murder Case
Donna Adelson, 73, the fifth individual arrested in connection with the nearly decade-old murder of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel, has arrived in Tallahassee to face charges related to the case. Her arrival comes after a recent arrest attempt at Miami International Airport, where she and her husband attempted to leave the country.

Donna Adelson, who had been held in the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility on Monday. She is currently being held without bond and was officially booked on Tuesday, according to online jail records.

Her arrest took place on November 13, less than a week after her son, Charlie Adelson, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation in the murder of Dan Markel. Charlie Adelson faces a mandatory life sentence for his involvement in the murder of his former brother-in-law.

Dan Markel, a 41-year-old law professor, was fatally shot in the garage of his Trescott Drive home on July 18, 2014. The murder occurred in the midst of a contentious legal battle between Markel and his ex-wife, Wendi Adelson, Donna Adelson's daughter, over custody of their two sons and other related matters. A judge had denied Wendi Adelson's request to relocate with the children to Miami.

Donna Adelson had been under scrutiny by law enforcement for her potential involvement in the case. Recorded jail calls between her and her son revealed discussions about possible suicide or fleeing to a non-extradition country. In 2016, an FBI undercover agent posed as a blackmailer and approached her with an article about Markel's killing, leading to further suspicions.

During this encounter, known as the "bump," Donna Adelson called her son, hinting at the significance of the encounter. She also signed multiple checks totaling $18,000 from the family's dental practice, which were given to Katie Magbanua, who was dating Charlie Adelson at the time of the murder, despite Magbanua not actually working at the practice.

The probable cause affidavit in the case detailed that Donna and her husband, Harvey Adelson, a retired dentist, had promised to arrange an interview with the Tallahassee Police Department's lead investigator at Markel's local memorial in 2014. However, they left Tallahassee with Wendi and the grandchildren the following day without fulfilling their promise. Subsequently, no one from the Adelson family contacted the police or inquired about the status of the investigation. In July 2015, Wendi Adelson changed her children's surname from Markel to Adelson.

Donna Adelson's arrival in Tallahassee marks a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the murder of Dan Markel. As the case unfolds, authorities aim to establish her role in the alleged conspiracy. The Adelson family's involvement in this high-profile case has garnered widespread attention, and legal experts anticipate a complex legal battle ahead.

This arrest serves as a reminder of law enforcement's persistent efforts to bring those responsible for Dan Markel's murder to justice. The case's complexity and the involvement of multiple individuals continue to captivate public interest nearly a decade after the tragic incident occurred.

  • Family of Alleged Gilgo Beach Killer to Receive Seven-Figure Sum for Documentary Series
In a surprising turn of events, the family of alleged Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann is set to receive an astounding seven-figure sum for their participation in a documentary series. The production, helmed by Peacock, will closely follow Heuermann's family as they navigate the impending trial and the profound impact his alleged crimes have had on their lives.

Rex Heuermann, the prime suspect in a series of gruesome killings of sex workers between 2010 and 2011, is currently facing trial for the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Lynn Costello. Their remains were discovered on Long Island's Gilgo Beach. Heuermann is also suspected in the death of 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes and other unidentified victims.

Peacock's documentary project has raised eyebrows as it promises an unprecedented glimpse into the life of a suspected serial killer's family. As part of their involvement, Heuermann's estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, and their adult children, Christopher and Victoria, will receive no less than $1 million for sharing their experiences.

The decision to participate in the documentary reportedly stems from the family's dire financial situation caused by the alleged crimes committed by Heuermann. Their attorney, Robert Macedonio, is expected to earn $400,000 for his legal services, while Vess Mitev, who represents Victoria and Christopher, reportedly secured a $200,000 agreement.

The documentary will provide exclusive access to the family's journey throughout Heuermann's trial and its aftermath. An insider close to the production revealed, "They will be filmed throughout the trial and after the trial's outcome. The family will tell their entire story and everything about their life with Heuermann exclusively to the documentary filmmakers."

Senior story editor Paula Froelich of NewsNation shared insights into Asa Ellerup's decision to participate, stating, "There's a reason why she hasn't talked to the media at all because she has signed a major deal with the documentary crew."

Film crews have been observed following the family as they attended Heuermann's indictment hearing, a reminder of the high-stakes legal battle ahead. The accused murderer is currently being held in jail pending his trial, the date of which remains undetermined.

News of the Heuermann family's substantial financial gain from their documentary participation has sparked controversy and outrage on social media. Concerns have been raised about the apparent focus on the family's financial compensation while the victims' families remain in the shadows.

One person took to social media, asking, "Where are the offers for the families of victims of #TheLongIslandSerialKiller #LISK? Where is an empathetic approach for them to share their experiences…?...the disgust watching you all in the media profit from it?"

As the documentary project unfolds and Rex Heuermann's trial progresses, more questions will likely be raised about the ethics and implications of such a production. The case continues to be a point of public interest, with many hoping for justice for the victims and their families as the legal proceedings unfold.

  • Florida Woman Charged in Murder of Microsoft Exec Ex-Husband Caught on Camera Tearfully Recalling Heartbreaking News to Their Children
Shanna Gardner, the Florida woman facing first-degree murder charges for her alleged involvement in the murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan, was captured on camera months before her arrest, sharing a tearful account of how she and Jared's second wife, Kirsten, broke the devastating news to their children. Gardner, who has hired prominent defense attorney Jose Baez, had previously spoken to Action Jax, expressing shock at her ex-husband's death and proclaiming her innocence.

In a heart-wrenching interview, Gardner recounted the emotional moment when they informed the children about Jared Bridegan's tragic demise. "It was a very quick visit," Gardner revealed, "And we just wanted it very clear that this is to honor his memory. We didn't want too many details. … I think we all can agree that we love the kids, and they needed to be the priority."

A year later, Gardner faces severe legal consequences as she stands accused of engineering her ex-husband's murder, which took place in February 2022. On that fateful day, Jared Bridegan had just dropped off their twins at Gardner's Jacksonville Beach residence when he encountered a tire blocking his path. Tragically, he was shot multiple times while investigating the obstruction, with his 2-year-old daughter with Kirsten in the backseat.

Gardner's involvement in a bruising custody battle with Jared at the time raised suspicions. To counter these whispers, she gave an interview to "Action Jax" TV station in June 2022, where she vehemently declared her innocence. Recent excerpts from this interview have been released, revealing Gardner's emotional state as she discussed the murder she is now accused of initiating.

"I found out in the middle of the night," Gardner said, reflecting on her ex-husband's death. "I was shocked." Her emotions also spilled over when she spoke about the impact of the tragedy on their children, stating, "I can't imagine as children what that kind of news would mean, to have to process that. Much less something that they love, their father."

Gardner additionally reminisced about her initial encounter with Jared Bridegan, whom she would later be charged with killing. She revealed they were set up on a blind date in Salt Lake City two decades ago, leading to a fast-paced relationship and eventual marriage. "We got married soon after dating. Within a couple of years, we had twins. Any time kids come into the mix, it's a lot," Gardner said.

The legal ramifications of the case have extended beyond Gardner, as her new husband, Mario Fernandez, and a former tenant, Henry Tenon, have also been charged in connection with Jared's murder. The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of a prominent Microsoft executive, the emotional toll on the children, and Gardner's hiring of Jose Baez, known for securing an acquittal for Casey Anthony.

As the legal proceedings continue, the community remains gripped by the tragic events surrounding Jared Bridegan's death, and the questions surrounding his murder remain unanswered.

  • Prosecutors Seek Relocation of Chad Daybell's Murder Trial Amid Media Coverage Concerns
Prosecutors in the high-profile murder case of Chad Daybell are urging a judge to move the trial from Ada County back to eastern Idaho due to extensive media coverage and potential challenges in selecting an impartial jury.*

Chad Daybell faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder, in connection with the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, and his first wife, Tammy Daybell. The trial is scheduled to commence on April 1, but concerns about the influence of media coverage on jury selection have prompted prosecutors to seek a change of venue.

In a motion filed on Wednesday, Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake and Madison County Prosecuting Attorney Rob Wood argued that "local media and community participation in Ada County itself was pervasive and extensive," making it difficult to secure an impartial jury.

They emphasized that Chad Daybell's property, where all three victims' bodies were discovered, is situated in Fremont County. Therefore, they contend that a fair and unbiased jury can be found there, especially since Lori Vallow Daybell's trial, Chad's co-defendant, took place in Ada County. The extensive media coverage during Lori's trial and the potential influence it may have on jurors in Ada County are significant concerns.

Prosecutors also referenced the role of East Idaho News, highlighting its national and international reach and its impact on coverage of the case. They noted that extensive interviews, statements, and live news coverage were conducted outside the courthouse during Lori's trial, adding to the media frenzy.

To address these concerns, prosecutors have asked the judge, District Judge Steven Boyce, to either relocate the trial back to Fremont County or consider a venue that is "closer, less saturated, and less expensive."

In a separate motion, prosecutors renewed their objection to allowing cameras in the courtroom during Chad Daybell's trial. While John Prior, Daybell's defense attorney, has advocated for a public trial, prosecutors expressed worries about the prejudicial pretrial publicity that cameras might generate.

"Excessive prejudicial pretrial publicity will negatively impact the parties’ right to trial created by the improper use of camera and audiovisual equipment in sensitive pretrial hearings," wrote Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake. She raised concerns that the extensive media coverage and trial of Lori Daybell have already affected the ability to select a fair and impartial jury in Ada County.

Prosecutors also highlighted the potential complications in jury selection and the potential impact on witness testimony that may arise from having cameras in the courtroom.

A hearing to address these motions, including the request for trial relocation and the objection to cameras in the courtroom, is scheduled for November 29 in Fremont County. The outcome of these proceedings will determine the location and the level of media presence during Chad Daybell's upcoming trial.

  • Kaitlin Armstrong Sentenced to 90 Years in Prison for Murder of Cyclist Anna 'Mo' Wilson
Kaitlin Armstrong has been sentenced to 90 years in prison and fined $10,000 for the first-degree murder of professional cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson. After deliberating for several hours following Armstrong's guilty verdict, the jury reached this decision.*

The courtroom was filled with tension and emotion as Kaitlin Armstrong received her sentence for the murder of Anna Moriah 'Mo' Wilson. The jury's decision, which came a day after finding her guilty of first-degree murder, carries a 90-year prison term and a significant financial penalty.

Anna Moriah Wilson, a promising gravel racer, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds at a friend's home in Austin, Texas, on May 11, 2022, in what appeared to be a targeted homicide. Her tragic death shocked the community, leading to a lengthy trial that culminated in Armstrong's sentencing.

Prosecutors urged the jury to consider the calculated nature of the murder and Armstrong's attempt to evade justice, along with the profound impact of Wilson's murder on her family and friend, Caitlin Cash, who found Wilson injured in her home.

State attorney Guillermo Gonzalez asked the jurors to start with a minimum sentence of 40 years in prison, stating, "The fact that this was a calculated crime and the defendant's attempt to flee should be taken into account in the sentencing decision."

During the two-day sentencing hearing, the court heard poignant testimonies from members of Wilson's grief-stricken family. Her mother, Karen Wilson, described her daughter as "a unique person who accomplished a lifetime of achievements in 25 years." Her brother, Matthew Wilson, expressed the pain of losing his "closest confidant."

The defense presented witnesses, including Armstrong's father and sister, but did not make a specific recommendation for the sentence. Armstrong's father, Mike Armstrong, expressed condolences to the Wilson family, acknowledging the severity of their loss.

Throughout the weeks-long trial, prosecutors presented a compelling case against Armstrong, including video, cellphone, ballistic, and DNA evidence. They asserted that Armstrong had access to her then-boyfriend's communications with Wilson and could track Wilson's location through a fitness app. A DNA expert testified that there was "very strong support" for the presence of Armstrong's DNA on Wilson's bicycle.

Furthermore, prosecutors presented evidence indicating that Armstrong's vehicle was seen near the scene of the crime on the night of the homicide, and that her firearm was used in the murder.

Rick Jones, a Travis County prosecutor, emphasized that only Kaitlin Armstrong fit the facts presented in the case. However, the defense argued that Armstrong was "trapped in a nightmare of circumstantial evidence" and criticized the police for not investigating other potential suspects.

Armstrong, who had pleaded not guilty, did not testify in her own defense during the trial.

Following her police interview about Wilson's murder, Armstrong sold her Jeep and fled to Costa Rica. She evaded authorities for 43 days before being arrested at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas. Prosecutors revealed that just days before her arrest, Armstrong spent a substantial sum on plastic surgery.

In addition to the murder charge, Armstrong faced accusations of attempting to escape custody before the trial began. She was charged with escape causing bodily injury, a felony, after briefly evading corrections officers during transport to a medical appointment.

Kaitlin Armstrong's sentencing marks the end of a high-profile case that has captivated the public's attention and left a community grappling with the loss of a talented cyclist and the consequences of a devastating crime.
