Hittin' Season: A Philadelphia Phillies podcast

With the passing of Phillies legend Dick Allen, Justin and Trev forego their whining for one episode (sort of) and talk about the 529-foot home run Allen slugged on May 29, 1965, as well as how Allen was able to hit it, and the massive bat he swung to do so.

On Episode 438 of Hittin' Season, John Stolnis, Justin Klugh & Liz Roscher discussed the crazy Zack Wheeler trade rumors reported by ESPN that were then strongly refuted by Phillies owner John Middleton. Were the Phillies really looking to deal Wheeler? Does Middleton want to be the next Jerry Jones? And how goes the search for the team's next president of baseball operations? Has the bad PR made the job less attractive?

LOTS to talk about--the Phillies "botching" their rebuild, the soft portrayal of people leaving the Phillies, and the contracts the Phillies tendered this week. Hey, also, a J.T. Realmuto conversation. Why not.

On Episode 436 of Hittin' Season, John Stolnis, Liz Roscher & Justin Klugh tackle the Phillies' decision to fire 80 full time employees and a New York report that erroneously claimed owner John Middleton said he lost two billion dollars (nice piece of journalism there, Bill Madden!). It's been a disastrous off-season for the Phils and fan apathy/anger has never been higher, but this is nowhere close to the worst it's ever been. Also, Aaron Altherr had an outstanding season in Korea, could he be headed back to the Majors in 2021?

Liz and Justin take their sweet ass time wishing each other a blessed and not-disgusting holiday weekend, then bring up the Phillies for some reason. Who knows why. Maybe they're just trying to ruin your day. Anyway, topics include: What is Spencer Howard, To You?, Crap, Charlie Morton Signed with the Braves, and What Kind of Bladed Weapon Should the MLB World Series Trophy Be?

Justin and Trev go back to 1996 for a day of poor reflexes and early exit at first base. Switching from third to first is supposed to be somewhat seamless, but it certainly didn't look that way for Todd Zeile on August 7, when he broke a National League record for defensive errors in one game and committed two on the same play.

On Episode 435 of Hittin' Season, John Stolnis, Liz Roscher and Justin Klugh discuss the pros and many cons of signing Trevor Bauer to a free agent contract this off-season. Also, why John believes the Phillies WILL re-sign J.T. Realmuto, thoughts on why the Phils would hire a GM before a president of baseball ops, what kind of front office structure are could be seeking, and guesses as to what moves the team could make this off-season that would truly excite you.

Justin and Liz talk about what could be next for the Phillies in their front office, focusing on the biggest name that's been murmured: Theo Epstein. What would that front office look like? Would it ever happen? And will we ever see it?
