Scripture references: Malachi 4:1-3, "For indeed, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them," says the Lord of Hosts, "not leaving them root or branches. 2 But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and playfully jump like calves from the stall. You will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing," says the Lord of Hosts."

Welcome to another episode of Hope For Wives, Amy Matters is here us and we are so excited to continue our healing conversations!

In this conversation, we're exploring how trauma doesn't just live in your memories—it lingers in your energy. You may feel it as fatigue, tension, or that constant edge of hypervigilance that never quite lets you rest. But here's the good news: the same body that absorbed the shock of trauma also holds the power to release and restore.

    We Will be Discussing:
    1. How does trauma physically impact the body's ability to produce and sustain energy?
    2. What are some common signs that trauma is still draining a person's energy, even years later?

Today, we are welcoming one of our favorite people in the world, Dr. Barb Steffens, director emeritus of APSATS, to join us as we explore, "Surviving Relapse." Almost weekly, there is news of yet another ministry leader caught in a sex scandal or a Christian recovery leader having relapsed. Being in this field of work, the three of us are keenly aware of the fact that behind each scandal and each relapse there is, typically, a partner who is traumatically impacted.

Relapse, specifically, is terrifying for partners because it reopens the wound they worked so hard to stabilize, instantly bringing back fear, shock, and a sense of lost ground. It's not just about his behavior returning—it's the nervous system remembering how unsafe and unprotected it once felt.

    We Will be Discussing:
    1. Does relapse have to be a part of recovery?
    2. What is HER relapse safety play?
    3. Forgiveness does not replace accountability or override safety of betrayed spouses and the broader community. So, when a ministry leader relapses, how do we distinguish between grace and wisdom?
    4. What hope can we leave our listeners?

Welcome to another episode of Hope For Wives, today we are continuing our discussion around finding safety and healing in our bodies after betrayal with Amy Matters, a holistic wellness specialist. Remember, betrayal affects our physical selves, just as much as our emotional and mental selves.

    1. Why do so many women get stuck in survival mode after betrayal?
    2. What are some practical first steps women can take to begin feeling safe in their bodies again?
    3. What hope can we leave our listeners?

Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up. And he has all the power needed to do this —forever! Amen."
