One challenge with throwing an awesome party is making it awesome without spending a fortune. Today's podcast is all about how to decide what's worth the splurge and what's better to save on. Lindsay is sharing her process of party planning and budgeting that all starts with one big brain dump. A full list of all the ideas of food and activities, rentals, entertainment… every idea goes on the list. Then get quotes for everything. From there, we decide. First, remove anything that's way too much or figure out an alternate plan if it's something that's essential. Then, pick what's most important to you and what you think will make the biggest impact on the party and the overall experience. There are SO many creative ways to make a party really special, without costing a lot… if you plan ahead of time and are strategic about it. -Don't think of awesome parties as not an option because of budget! It's all about creative thinking and advanced planning! The process -Start with a brain dump - if the party is for someone else - make sure you get their input! -Get quotes on everything - before you make any decisions. -Pick what's most important to you and what you think will make the biggest impact on the party and the overall experience. -Remove anything that's way too much. -Buy things that you will reuse OR things that are the same cost as renting. -It's so much easier to throw a few parties a year if you own some stuff- cake stands etc. Know that all this is easier if you start ahead of time. If you are doing it last minute - it's possible but you're going to pay more! Overnight shipping, rush orders, etc. Food- make your own, get catering, have a vendor there. Food truck or food stand Pre-made or made on the spot. Ask all the questions! Have everyone bring a dish to save money if it's that type of thing! Activities - get ideas online then set-up yourself Have helpers instead of hiring a company Worth the SPLURGE - if it's a very specific company that does it in a special way Example: Gaming truck, caricature artist, paint class, cake decorating class. Decor- Balloons are essential - do your own, have some delivered, hire an artist. When to do each. If going for sheer volume, deliver and arranging them yourself. If the dessert table is your fav part and needs to be the most awesome - splurge- but just for that part. Signs- Make all your own, have some made on Etsy, have them all made on Etsy BUY - signs! Chalkboard signs, neon signs Adult party ideas- Wine tasting, champagne tasting, food tasting. DIY Start setting up a few days ahead of time so you can craft yourself and you don't have to pay for things to be made for you. We hope you got LOTS of ideas what to splurge on and what to save on for your next party!!
How to host a party or gathering and really enjoy it too! Tips that work for kids parties and adults parties… or small get togethers or parties on a bigger scale. You put so much into creating a fun party experience for you and your guests… once the party starts… you need to be in FUN mode… not execution mode. This podcast episode is filled with lots and lots of ideas of how to do that. So you aren't worried about getting the right pictures or picking up the dirty plates when people are done or running around trying to fix the music that's not playing like it's supposed to be. We are talking about creative ways to have so many of these things handled ahead of time or during the party - but by other people! So you are free to enjoy your guests and have the best time. Also thinking of all the little details ahead of time - any food allergies you need to accommodate for, where the candles and lighter will be if it's a birthday, having a signature drink or cocktail ready so everyone gets a first refreshment quickly. Anything that could send you on a mission to solve on the day of the party - we are going to work on ahead of time instead. What's worth spending a little extra on and ways you can save are key too. Here are some of the key points mentioned: -Walk yourself through the entire day of the event - from getting ready until the last guest leaves. -Consider getting your hair and make-up done. -Have people doing the things you would be doing! Picking up dirty plates, refilling TP in the bathroom, offering people drinks etc. -Have someone in charge of photos - so you don't wake-up without the photos you wanted from your special event. And that way you don't have to be in charge of managing it. Have a "shot list" made ahead of time. Pay someone or have a friend do it. -Make sure your tech is working! Music, etc. -Have a signature cocktail and consider a bartender. -Know anyones diet restrictions -Have things for the kids to do! -Get drinks/ice ready ahead of time. And candles and lighter! -Set-up as much as you can day before - anything that's not perishable food -Pay a little extra to have rentals delivered a day early! This way you can take your time to design and set-up everything and you aren't dashing at the last minute. -Add an activity - for adult parties too! Or even one everyone can do! Like a characiture artist etc. Have things for people to DO! -Have helpers to pick up things! -Have some healthy options for food. -Have to-go containers out and ready if you're going to send people with food! -Make sure you have enough sitting room - standing room. -Have a snack station - for an app or for after party bites -something will go wrong- let it go!! Be like ELSA! 😅 CHEERS to hosting a party AND enjoying it too!!
We all go through different ages and stages of life…
Whether the changes feel like they were your choice or not… Or they feel more positive or negative…
They all have something in common… They push us into a new chapter. A new chapter that we can design ourselves.
The goal of this podcast is to empower you when you're entering a new phase in life. To approach with with clear intensions and without holding onto anything you don't need from the previous chapters.
You're writing your own story, and if you don't like any part of it, the coolest part is you can start a new chapter anytime you want.
-Why start a new chapter?
Maybe you are forced to
Or you realize you are living too much in routine
Or you know you need to for your health
-Maybe you have grown kids who are moving out or moving away to college… Maybe you lost your job during Covid…
Or you aren't living a healthy lifestyle and you want to
-Types of ways to reinvent yourself...
Work change
Fitness change
Nutrition change
Clear out physical clutter
Clear out emotional clutter
-Let's talk about why it's hard…
Change is hard
You don't know what the new chapter looks like
But you do know what you will be losing
-Let's talk about some steps to get you there.
Get uncomfortable
Set small goals
-Why its essential
Because you don't want to have any regrets at 90
We are here one time - you cant stay in a job you hate for the insurance benefits or because it makes someone else proud of you
-Other episode to listen to: How To Be Awesome At Doing What You Should Do
-Do more of what you like - with the people you want to do it with- as many hours as possible. That's the goal.
-Figuring things out is a forever game - you don't have to know at a certain age and it will change!
-Stop looking backwards - your past doesn't determine your future.
Stop dwelling on your losses that are holding you back! It's over, move on! Be like Elsa and let it go!
-Whatever you want to do is absolutely possible… the question is… how hard are you willing to work for it?
-Often times people think they are lazy or tired- I just think you might not love what you are doing.
-Sometimes you just have to be patient.
-You down have to see the whole staircase… just the next step.
-There is so much power in knowing you are in control of everything. Someone in your life sucks or are negative? Limit them!!!
-You'll never know what the alternative would have been. You pick one and you never ever ever even consider to look back.
-It's all about what will you have the least regret about?
Cheers to your next chapter!
