There’s a right way and a wrong way to do all sorts of things. For instance we think that the right way to load toilet paper is with it dispensing over the top of course! Or, sometimes you see guys at the beach and they’re beet-red but they’ve still got their shirt off and they’re likely not wearing any sunscreen- what’re they doing?! And similar to quitting your job the right way, getting burned seems to be a lesson that many folks don’t often learn until they are older, or until after they’ve learned the lesson the hard way. But when it comes to your professional career, we want you to realize that quitting poorly can have very negative long-term ramifications. And the flip side of the coin is true as well- higher pay, more work flexibility, and better opportunities in the future await! Learn what you should be doing before you quit your job, how to ensure that you’re not leaving money on the table when you leave, and how you can best transition out of your current job.

When your home’s value increases by over $50,000 in 2021 alone- you take notice! The average homeowner has access to well over $150,000 in tappable home equity while still maintaining 20% equity in their homes. But just because you can cash out, does that mean you should? As you’ve witnessed your home equity continue to balloon, you might be tempted to do something with those newly discovered funds. You might start getting the itch to finally spend some of that ‘hard earned money’ on a boat or maybe even a lavish vacation. Or maybe you’re more of a money nerd and you just hate seeing that equity sitting there underutilized- doesn’t it just feel like a waste with those funds sitting around doing virtually nothing? Either way, you might be facing a money decision with five zeros after it, and we want to help you think about it well.

Our guest today is Scott Keyes- founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights, a travel platform with over two million members around the world. It’s been called “the travel world’s best-kept secret” by Thrillist and received praise in The New York Times among others. But before he became our favorite expert on ways to keep vacation costs down, Scott worked for years as a journalist, with bylines in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and plenty of other publications. And now, he’s published a book titled, “Take More Vacations”, which we’ll discuss today as well. With virtually everyone out there clamoring to take a vacation, we’re really excited to be talking about this timely topic. We discuss why we’re living in the golden age of cheap flights, how to get across the ocean for as little money as possible, change fees, and then we also discuss long travel and the changing culture of travel here in the US.

Have you ever been to a Broadway show? It’s amazing- whether you’re drawn to the storyline, the music, the costumes- but of course the cast is pivotal. And for any major theatrical production, not only are there the performers you see on stage, but there are also countless understudies. The backup cast members who learn all the lines, and know exactly what to do in case one of the performers gets sick or can’t perform. They’re preparing for the worst. We think of prepping for a recession in a similar way. We don’t know exactly when it’s going to happen. In fact, we hope that we don’t experience one anytime soon! But when it does, you’re going to be able to weather that storm much better if you take the proper precautions ahead of time. And with more talk of a recession on the horizon, we figured now was a great time to discuss what you should be doing. We’re going to get granular on this one and give specific steps that you should take in order to be prepared whether we enter recession territory later this year, or if it takes an entire decade! Either way, you’re going to be ready.
