Private Practice Success Stories

How to See Telepractice Clients Through Your Private Practice with Elise Mitchell

Listen Later

Do you enjoy offering telepractice? Have you ever considered offering it through your own private practice instead of an agency that pays peanuts?

If this is something that interests you, this episode of Private Practice Success Stories is for you. I sat down with Elise Mitchell to talk about the opportunity to offer teletherapy to your own private clients and also to share some success stories from other Start Your Private Practice students who are offering teletherapy either exclusively or in addition to their in-person services.

Elise Mitchell is a Speech-Language Pathologist, owner of The Therapist Support Network, and Head of New Practice Development with The Independent Clinician. As the owner of The Therapist Support Network, Elise focuses on providing affordable intervention materials to SLPs and OTs.

She has spent the majority of her clinical career in telepractice, specifically contracting and managing school-based telepractice services in addition to serving private telepractice clients. Mitchell’s current position as Head of New Practice Development for The Independent Clinician allows her to assist SLPs and OTs with accessing resources to start, grow, or scale a private practice.

In Today's Episode, We Discuss:

  • What teletherapy is
  • The benefits of offering telepractice through your private practice
  • Why there is such a large demand for teletherapy
  • Why it isn’t as difficult to get licensed in other states as you may think
  • What to do if you want to contract with the school
  • Why your location doesn’t matter to your clients in teletherapy
  • How to choose the right telepractice platform
  • Online assessment resources

I hope you enjoyed this episode and found this conversation about how you can add teletherapy services to your own private practice helpful. It’s not as hard as you think it is, you just have to know where to start!
