This week I'm talking to one of the most driven and successful women I know, Jessica Zweig of Simply Be. A few weeks leading up to this interview, Jessica told me that she really wanted to "get real" during our interview. And that we did.
Jessica and I discuss exactly what we thought of each other the first time we met, the breakdown that led her to one the biggest decisions of her life, leaving her business and coping with a business divorce, finding love outside her "type", and the best piece of advice her pops gave her on starting a business.

After ten minutes of meeting John Michael Schert, I asked him to be on the podcast. He didn't even know I had a podcast, and I didn't really know anything about him – I just knew that he was awesome.
In this episode, John Michael and I talk about how to get out of your own way, the impact of his mother coming out when he was a teenager, what he learned from being a dancer, and learning to give space to the unknown. Sound heavy? It sorta is. But it's also one of my favorite episodes yet.

Katie Dalebout does a lot. She's an author, speaker, yoga teacher, podcast host, and the creator of The Wellness Wonderland. After reading that list, you might be thinking "Ooooh, fancy. She's got it allll figured out." She doesn't. And that's one of the reasons I love Katie so much. She's very open and real about the fact that she's constantly working on herself and trying to shift her ideas and patterns.
Because of all that, I thought she'd be a perfect host for this month's challenge. The funny thing about her challenge is that it changed halfway through the episode. We got so deep on a topic that I asked her to ditch the original one because I thought the new idea would have a greater impact. Selfishly, it's also something that I really need to work on myself. I just needed a nudge (ok, hard push) to do it. Hoping you'll join me in this one!

If you decide to take the pledge:
1. Take the pledge and keep it to yourself. Tell no one or maybe just your best friend at dinner. Write it in your diary. Say it out loud to your bathroom mirror. Do you.
2. Take the pledge and share in the comments here. It's a great place to talk with fellow pledgers. And also a great place to ask any questions you might have about the challenge.
3. Take the pledge and tweet it. Share on Twitter and tag it with #onepartpledge. Challenge someone else you know to take part in it. These things are always easier with friends.
4. Take the pledge and Instagram it. Take a photo of yourself holding up the OPP hand sign (it's above) or a photo of you doing the challenge. You don't even have to show your face. Get creative with it. And make sure to tag me, so I see you! #onepartpledge
If you miss a challenge or aren't ready for it right now, that's ok. This isn't like an episode of Game of Thrones. You can miss one and still know what the hell is going on.

Kathleen Shannon is known for her work helping creative entrepreneurs grow and define their businesses. She's got a brand (Braid Creative) and popular podcast (Being Boss) dedicated to it. So I thought feeer sure we'd be talking business on this episode. But we didn't talk about it once. What we did cover got a little real…in the very best way possible.
Kathleen and I talked about online haters, how her spiritual growth has changed her (and also kept her the same), approaching tricky parenting traditions and systems (heads up: we talk circumcision), and a really great piece of advice that Brené Brown shared with her (and now YOU).
Dive in and make sure to share what you think about these topics.

I already spilled the beans about this week's guest on yesterday's post…it's the very cool Ashlae Warner of Oh, Ladycakes. But what you don't know is just how many freaking topics we covered in this episode.
Ashlae and I talk about dealing with misophonia, a heartbreaking yet pivotal point in her relationship, her tips on creating more opportunities to travel, using food as medicine, her beef with Sur La Table, and our shared messy-bessy ways (that's a nice way of saying we're slobs).

I'll have to admit that I was a little intimidated when I first met Eva Daiberl. She seemed kind of perfect to me. She's good at everything she does (she's a trained pastry chef, photographer, and DIY master). She's traveled the world. And a stroll through her closet rivals any trip to Barneys. But the more I got to know her, I found out that Eva she wasn't so intimidating after all. She deals with personal shit just like the rest of us and is one of the most compassionate people I've met because of it.
In this interview, Eva and I discuss her battle with anxiety, the judgement she felt from others after her diagnosis, and how meditation has changed her life and helped manage her symptoms. She's an incredible woman and I'm excited for you to hear this episode.

Often described as the “hardest-working person on the planet,” Lee Cockerell is the man. He’s the former Executive Vice President of Operations for Walt Disney World, has led a team of 40,000 employees, is a best-selling author, and a crazy-inspiring speaker.
And we’re very lucky to have him bring this month’s One Part Pledge Challenge! As always, you gotta listen to find out what the challenge is…but I’d grab some paper and a pen to write this shit down. It’s a good one.

This week's guest is writer, author, and grief therapist Claire Bidwell Smith. Claire and I discuss losing both of her parents by the age of 25, the memoir (The Rules Of Inheritance) that followed, her take on that book becoming a movie, and what happened when she started examining what happens after we die for her new book, After This.
Oh! And listen to the outro after the interview. I have a little idea of something I want to do together…

This interview was a long time coming. I've wanted Laura Wright of The First Mess to be a guest since I started the podcast, but we held out and waited – and now it's time. And it just happens to coincide with the reveal of a new, special something she's been working on. Believe me, it's a big one.
Laura and I talk her big news, learning to communicate better in long-term relationships, knowing what your audience wants, and putting your energy into projects that are truly beneficial to you (no working for free). We also talk Canada-things, like Drake and his lint rollers.

This week's guest is author, artist, speaker, educator, and food-justice leader Bryant Terry. For more than a decade, his passionate work has been instrumental in changing how people look at healthy eating and sustainable food systems. He's pretty much a bad ass.
Bryant and I discuss the power of investing in yourself, what helped him see and define his vision, his three C's of change, and the greatest thing his mentor taught him (who just happens to be Alice Waters).
