This week's guest is Hillary Sawchuk. She's the creator of the popular interview series A Drink With and an all-around inspiring woman. Hilary has interviewed everyone from Common to Steve Forbes to Kurt Russell for her site. And looking at the super-polished, pulled-together brand she's created, you'd think the she'd be kicking back and drinking champers with celebs. But Hillary explained in our conversation that things aren't always as glamorous as they appear. And neither was the journey to get where she is today.
We discuss how she went from a utilities intern for The Pistons (where she was literally carrying a cord around behind a cameraman) to becoming on-air talent, the reason she started A Drink With, how she's monetizing it today, and why she believes getting told "no" can still be a small victory for your brand.

This month's challenge is brought to you by my friend and natural-skincare wonder woman, Adina Grigore, of S.W. Basics and the new book Skin Cleanse. You might remember her from, well, like a million posts on this site…because I'm obsessed with her. Remember a couple weeks ago, when I gave you that awesome three-ingredient face mask? That was her. See why I love her so much?
She's bringing a doozy of a challenge this month, and you might already have an idea of what it is…but you're still going to have to listen to find out for sure.
Here's Adina with her challenge:

Remember – if you decide to take on the challenge, here are some ways to make your pledge…
1. Take the pledge and keep it to yourself. Tell no one or maybe just your best friend at dinner. Write it in your diary. Say it out loud to your bathroom mirror. Do you.
2. Take the pledge and share in the comments here. It's a great place to talk with fellow pledgers. And also a great place to ask any questions you might have about the challenge.
3. Take the pledge and tweet it. Share on Twitter and tag it with #onepartpledge and #skincleanse. Challenge someone else you know to take part in it. These things are always easier with friends.
4. Take the pledge and Instagram it. Take a photo of yourself holding up the OPP hand sign (it's above) or a photo of you doing the challenge. You don't even have to show your face. Get creative with it. And make sure to tag me, so I see you! #onepartpledge and #skincleanse works here too.
If you miss a challenge or aren't ready for it right now, that's ok. This isn't like an episode of Game of Thrones. You can miss one and still know what the hell is going on.
Let's do it!!
Go back and check out Adina's first interview with me. It's the first time she talked about her book. Basically One Part Podcast broke the story or I'm just really nosey.
I think a lot of us have had the dream of leaving the city and moving to a farm or cabin or beach somewhere – living off the land and creating (what we imagine will be) a simpler life for ourselves. Well, food writer and author Rochelle Bilow did just that.
Rochelle and I discuss her year of living on a farm, falling in love, setting intentions, and her book that chronicles it all: The Call Of The Farm, An Unexpected Year of Getting Dirty, Home Cooking, and Finding Myself. Here's Rochelle:

I've loved every single guest and story I've shared on the podcast, but Mariah Naella's story feels extra special. Maybe it's because I had never even spoken to her before and she was so generous and open. Maybe it's because her story was so compelling that I was a little speechless at times. Or maybe it's because she lives with a pigeon – and it's a pretty special little bird. Maybe it's all of these reasons and a few more.
You're going to have to listen in to hear why I love this episode so much. I don't want to give away too much – just know that Mariah proves just how strong and courageous a person can be. The woman is truly remarkable. And has a really great laugh.

The pod is BACK, complete with a new monthly series called One Part Pledge, and I'm so excited about it! Don't worry, if you love the original podcast, it'll still be there. But I really think you're going to like this new addition.
Here's the deal: A One Part Pledge pod will go up at the beginning of each month. My guest will share a challenge they've created for us. The challenge might be something big or small. It might be accomplished in a day or maybe over a whole month. It might be physical – or just a mental thing. The point is that the challenge will be designed to shake things up a little in our daily routines. And create some change in places that maybe we need it most (and might not even know it).
If you decide to take on the challenge, here are some ways to make your pledge…
Share on Twitter and tag it with #onepartpledge.
#onepartpledge works here too.
If you miss a challenge or aren't ready for it right now, that's ok. This isn't like an episode of Game of Thrones. You can miss one and still know what the hell is going on. Again, do you.
So, let's get to it! The first One Part Pledge challenge is….
Ok. So, I'm not actually going to tell you the challenge. You have to listen to find out! But I am going to tell you who's bringing it. This first challenge is from my girl Katie Horwitch. She's the fitness/mind/body editor at The Chalkboard Mag, an Equinox instructor, and now the proud mama of the awesome new website WANT (Women Against Negative Talk).
She's inspiring, thoughtful, and just so passionate about what she does. So basically the perfect first guest for this series.

Creative director and photographer Emma Arnold (aka Très Awesome) is here this week. Emma and I discuss standing out creatively in a saturated market, balancing a 9-to-5 with other creative outlets, and how to create honest conversations about depression. PLUS, she made a plant-based recipe just for this episode (and it's super duper easy!).

Designer and self-described, modern-day memory keeper Kelly Purkey and I discuss her ditching the idea of a traditional home to travel the world, the decision to shift the voice of her brand, how she's changed the perception of her industry, and why she's just not down with excessive oversharing online. Can't wait for you to hear this one!

This week's guest is Erica Chidi. She's a chef, doula, and the founder of The Mama Circle. She's also a really good storyteller, and I loved our conversation together so much.
Erica and I discuss her experiences growing up in the United States and South Africa, finding her true passion to help other women, uncovering a secret link between her and her grandmother, and creating and building a community around your brand. It's a doozy of an episode. Just dive in already!

This week's guest is musician De'Mar Hamilton. De'Mar and I have been friends for years, and I've made him do things like this and this before…but this is for sure my most favorite thing we've done together.
De'Mar and I discuss his early beginnings in Chicago, the music experience that transformed his career, the blessing and the curse of having a #1 hit on the radio, and how he found the love of his life…halfway across the world. I love De'Mar's story and think you will too.

Get ready to fall in love with one of my favorite people on the planet, because Megan Silianoff is this week's guest. Megan was in town from Texas to host this month's For Reals Meals, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to interview her…in person. My first face-to-face interview for the podcast. And it all went down at The Thompson Hotel.
Megan and I talk about overcoming cancer (twice), the incredible and emotional process of adopting her daughter, and the book she wrote that chronicles it all (99 Problems But A Baby Ain't One). The word "inspiring" doesn't seem big enough to describe her story – so take a listen and let me know if you've got a better word for it!
