In this episode of Defiant Health, I’ve brought empowerment strategist JJ Flizanes back for a second interview. Because JJ brings such high energy and unique wisdom to emotional issues—issues that I do not discuss much at all—that I thought it would be helpful to everyone to bring her back on. JJ has a varied background as an actress, personal trainer, and now as a coach on behavior, helping people find their weak spots, behaviors or beliefs that block their success in health, weight loss, relationships and other spheres of life.
Although I know that my programs, whether you call it Wheat Belly, Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox, Undoctored, or my most recent umbrella program, DrDavisInfiniteHealth.com and the Super Gut book, although I know that my programs work, they don’t always work for everybody. Some people start, but don’t follow through. Other engage in the programs intermittently and therefore don’t obtain full benefit. Other start strong, obtain huge benefits, then oddly give up. In other words, some people, despite the best of intentions, self-sabotage, even when the answers are easily within reach. And it’s often the case that this is part of a long-term pattern of self-sabotage, of knowing how to accomplish something but not giving it your all or just giving up.
I therefore wanted to bring JJ back to discuss emotional healing. She focuses specifically on how to identify what she calls “core wounds,” events or people in your past that continue to influence current behavior. JJ also has a panel of strategies she puts to work to change or eliminate these behaviors. What I especially like about JJ’s approach is that she doesn’t waste time, asking you to engage in years of therapy, but to devote just a few hours, a few sessions to gain insight into your behavior and discover new solutions.
