In this episode of Into The Wild, We Wild Women founder, Renée Warren will take you through the steps you need to develop a winning founder's mindset.
Originally recorded as a Facebook Live and re-purposed here just for Into The Wild listeners, this episode will leave you with some clear and actionable steps you can take in your business to help lay the foundation for growth. There is even an exercise at the end of the podcast that will help you uncover some of your own mindset blocks that could be preventing you from moving forward in your business.
One in nine companies achieve a modest level of sustainable and profitable growth, even though all companies want growth. Most issues are internal issues, controllable to you, the founder, and not really much to do with outside factors. For example, blaming the pandemic for losing business which made you close your doors because YOU DID NOTHING about it, which is your fault. You can look at the situation as though it happened TO you or FOR you. It's up to you to decide.
This idea is tracked back to what Chris Zook calls the Growth Paradox where he explains that growth creates complexity and that complexity becomes the silent killer within your company.
You want to achieve a founder's mindset which is the power of the internal health of a company or just you the owner) to maintain its energy so that you can maintain creativity, innovation and consistency.
Here's what I know: when you grow your mindset, you grow your company.
In this episode, you will learn:

Hey you wild women!
Joining me on today's episode is Ashley Hogrebe, Founder and Systems Strategist of Do the Damn Thing. She helps feminist creative business owners spend more time in their zone of genius and going after their goals, and less time struggling with tech.
Originally from Washington State and now based in Los Angeles, Ashley has had a wild career path. She has been touring manager for a rock band, Director of Logistics and Operations for a summer camp for adults, and most recently the Operations Manager of a multi-million-dollar online course business. While her career path has been varied, they all have one thing in common: creating systems and processes in the midst of chaos.
When she started her own business, Ashley thought implementing the systems and processes would be easy. She was wrong. Suffering from analysis paralysis, Ashley realized she needed to act as the visionary and the operator of her business. By implementing and streamlining the little things, she was able to successfully launch Do the Damn Thing in 2020.

What it means to be a WILD woman:
"The opposite of wild is tamed, and we live in a society where patriarchy and white supremacy do everything in their power to tame, AKA oppress, marginalized people. Especially black women and people of color. When the world isn't built for marginalized genders to be wild, it can be liberating to reclaim that word. To show it fully and use it as fuel." -Ashley Hogrebe

Hey you wild women!
My next guest resigned from her corporate career in 2017 to focus on her impressive clothing line Kaela Kay. Her brand quickly evolved with a distinct identity, recognition of culture and customer loyalty. And the designs and prints are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen!!
With a focus on her Ghanaian roots, she emphasizes the beauty in the prints and colors that come from and represent Africa through the Ankara (an-car-a) textiles. Of course not ignoring her North American upbringing, her designs are feminine, classic and classy. She wants all women to identify their personal style in their fabulous size. For this reason Kaela Kay stocks up to size US22 and will custom design for any fabulous size.
Kaela Kay clothing is produced in Toronto, Canada by local seamstresses. This allows her to work closely with the seamstresses to create well-made and well-fitting styles. These wonderful women are self-regulated, creative and hard-working and are able to cultivate the artistic and work-life balance lives that they desire.
As a mom to 3 beautiful beings, she strives to build a company that they too will grow to be proud of.
