Joanne O’Riordan is only one of seven people in the world living with a rare physical disability known as Total Amelia. This means she was born without all four limbs and even though there is no medical explanation as to why this happened, Joanne or indeed her family, has never allowed it to hold her back.During the week of her sixteenth birthday she made a speech at the United Nations and challenged the body to create technology to help disabled people.She’s the youngest in her family and at twenty four, she’s already achieved more than many of us will achieve in a lifetime.She’s a sports writer and podcaster and she’s by far one of the coolest and most interesting people I’ve ever met.Our paths have crossed numerous times down through the years, including interviewing her before, but last month I spoke to her in her home county of Cork and it was simply wonderful.
