给外国朋友或者客户送礼物有哪些注意事项呢？
因为culture difference（文化差异），有时候送礼是一种offence（冒犯）。

1、Several types of gifts 礼物分类

①First meeting gift 见面礼
If you meet someone for the first time, and he or she give you a gift, it will make you feel awkward.
如果第一次见面就送别人礼物的话，会让人觉得尴尬。
Are you going to buy my affection?
对方可能会臆测: 你是想讨好我吗？

②Wedding favors婚礼伴手礼 & Party favors派对礼物
This can be something small, such as a candle and candies.
都是一些小东西，像蜡烛啦，糖果啦之类的。

美国人好像很喜欢送蜡烛，蜡烛是送礼物的首选！

There is a big culture difference between Chinese weddings and western weddings. 
关于结婚礼物，中国与西方有相当大的差别。

Western wedding---a list of many things they want
然而在西方国家，新人在结婚之前，他们会把想要的东西列出来。
If someone buys one ,no one else can buy it again.
如果某样东西已经被人先买了的话，其他人就要送其他的了。

2、When to give gifts？什么时候可以送礼物？
the main holidays like Christmas重大节日，比如圣诞节
the obvious times like birthdays 重要的日子，比如生日
when to someone’s home for a dinner party 去别人家吃饭参加派对
the time to welcome a new man 欢迎新人的加入
If a foreigner is joining your company or school, it’s nice to give them a welcoming gift.
如果有外国人加入公司或者新到一所学校，可以送小礼物以示友好。

3、When not to give gifts?什么时候不要送礼物？
 on the first meeting 与人第一次见面的时候
It will be awkward unless you give them something not expensive.
最好不要送礼物；
要是很想表示友好的话，可以送一些不贵重的礼物，
比如Mary会送自己制作的小曲奇饼（cookies）
 on the first date 第一次约会的时候
千万不要送礼物！
It is old-fashioned to give chocolates or flowers.
送花儿、巧克力什么的已经过时了！

They don’t give gifts on Thanksgiving day.在感恩节，他们是不送礼物的。
They just eat together and say thank you.
他们只是坐在一起吃吃饭，说一些感谢的话。
