Locked On Guardians - Daily Podcast On The Cleveland Guardians

We start out talking about the Marlins mess, something we all knew would happen, but maybe not as soon as it occurred.. How does one take seriously a season where a team loses a third of its roster. How does a team carry enough players and not mess up its 40 man after such a situation. Once again it appears Manfred and the MLB dropped the ball. We go over some news. Kluber being out for at least a month. White Sox making some roster moves. then we preview the White Sox series position by position.

The Indians face a Royals team that is normally pretty terrible, but thanks to Covid is down nine players and in even worse shape than most for the start of the year. The Royals are down most of their rotation, and several starters which should mean a sweep for the Indians, as the Royals were already one of the worst teams in baseball. We do make a correction to our 40 man talk, thanks to the Mad Thinker. We talk about expanded playoffs, which mean it would be shocking if the Indians don't make it. We also talk about the Betts extension and how it just goes to show Lindor's Indians days are numbered.

The Indians roster has been released, and it is going to lead to few more moves. The Indians have to add three players to their 40 man roster which means that more moves are coming in the next 24 hours. This is just the first step. There are some surprises and we will talk about not just today's moves but what I think will be happening very soon. We look at the 40 man roster in depth to figure out who is no longer going to be an Indian soon. Then we go in-depth on the Indians Achilles heel, the bullpen.

Then we talk about the news about the Indians rotation being announced and how it appears the Indians lineup will likely look like in the upcoming days. Baseball is only a day away.

There were a lot of old friends looking for a new home after Tuesday was done. Many players were given their release when they were informed they did not make the 30 man roster. We talk about them including one who seems destined to find his way back home. I talk about an outfielder I knew I would get questions about after he was released. We talk about a trade involving a division rival from over the weekend. Then we finally finish up the ESPN top ten piece talking about Jose Ramirez and third base in general.

We talk about the Tanner Burns signing, and my concerns with the Indians spending under slot for the first time since the pool system was implemented. Was this due to a weird draft or something to worry about going forward. I could see it either way. We talk about Scott Moss's statement after he was sent to Lake County, and what it means for the Indians now and in the future. Then we end with a discussion of the players who have been sent down and what the roster is shaping up to look like.

We don't get a chance to get the ESPN ranks today. Instead we talk about Tanner Burns, and how he is just one of eight unsigned draft picks, which is all the weirder as half of that list is Miami Marlins picks, and Burns is a lot higher a selection than any non-Marlin left. He is in town and likely to sign over the weekend, but we dive into numbers again. We then talk about some small teams news about the Indians top three starters and what a five or six man rotation might look like. The second half of the show is focused on Bradley Zimmer, and how he is battling for the top camp performer with Yu Chang. We talk about what he can bring when healthy, some changes he has made, and the hope for him going forward. I mean for me that was four locations ago when we debated who was the better prospect in the Indians system Zimmer or Frazier and we are still waiting for either one to prove themselves.

Then we dig into the ESPN ranks again we talk about RF briefly as it was released before setting in to talk about 2B and SS a pair of positions which will likely have completely new starters in 2021.
