The Philadelphia Phillies bounced back to beat the New York Mets, 6-1 thanks to some big swings and the arms shutting things down!
The Phillies didn’t waste any time in grabbing a lead in the win. Trea Turner led off the bottom of the first with an infield single and Kyle Schwarber followed with a two-run homer.
Jesus Luzardo allowed a solo homer by Tyrone Taylor in the top of the 2nd, but kept the Mets off the board after that. The All-Star lefty tossed five innings of one-run baseball allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven using 90 pitches.
The Phillies added to their lead by plating two more in the 5th with a solo homer by Trea Turner and an RBI single by Alec Bohm. Bryce Harper added another two runs in the 6th with a two-run single.
The bullpen combo of Orion Kerkering, Jose Alvarado and Chase Shugart combined for four innings of scoreless one-hit, no-walk baseball with Shugart throwing two innings.

The Philadelphia Phillies face a bullpen crisis as Brad Keller’s season-ending torn UCL leaves their relievers exposed and sparks urgent questions ahead of the MLB trade deadline. Can Dave Dombrowski work magic to find late-inning help before August 3, or is the World Series window closing faster than expected?
Connor Thomas breaks down the fallout from Keller’s injury, critiques Trea Turner’s defensive struggles despite his solo homer against the Mets, and weighs the pros and cons of going “all in” at the deadline with a depleted minor league system. Key topics include Aaron Nola’s recurring home run problem, internal replacement options, the looming MLB lockout’s impact on trade strategy, and who the real untouchables are for the Phillies. Is Philly’s roster built for a deep October run, or are the cracks too deep to patch?

The Philadelphia Phillies lose to the New York Mets, 4-1 as the Phillies bats muster just four hits and Nola gives up three long-balls!
Aaron Nola got through six innings allowing just one run. It came on a solo homer by Francisco Alvarez in the 3rd. Then he got some help from Bryce Harper in the 5th with no outs. Harper snagged a line drive destined for the right field corner, but Harper corralled it, and stepped on first to double off Alvarez. Nola would record the third out of the inning with the bases loaded by getting Bo Bichette to fly out to center.
Despite Nola being at 90 pitches, on a night with AWFUL air quality due to the Canadian Wildfires, Don Mattingly sent the righty back to the mound for the 7th inning and the Mets made him pay. Brett Baty and Alvarez took him deep for back-to-back homers to start off the inning.
The only Phillies' run came by way of a Trea Turner homer in the 8th. Kyle Schwarber JUST missed his 33rd homer of the season on a ball that hit off the top of the railing in right field. A fan in the front row, who had a glove and FAILED to make the catch, or even an attempt for that matter! Schwarber settled for a double.

The Philadelphia Phillies top the Detroit Tigers, 5-0 as Zack Wheeler out-does Tarik Skubal!
Kyle Schwarber brought the Phillies first run of the game home on an RBI single to left off Tarik Skubal then the Phils blew the top off in the 6th.
The offense backed another great outing from Zack Wheeler. The righty tossed six-scoreless innings of two-run, 2-walk baseball with 10 strikeouts! Wheels lowers his ERA to 2.13.
Skubal started the 6th at 83 pitches, but after Bryce Harper capped off a 10-pitch at bat with an infield single, the Tigers went to the bullpen. Keider Montero took over an seemed like he was about to get a double play ball off the bat of Alex Bohm, but Bohm’s sharply hit grounder up the middle, went off of Montero’s foot and gave the Phillies a first and second with no outs situation. They would go on to take Montero for three runs in the inning including a three-run double by J.T. Realmuto.
The Bullpen trifecta of Jose Alvarado, Orion Kerkering and Jonathon Bowlan closed out the game perfectly for Wheeler.

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Detroit Tigers, 4-2 and Derek Hill led the way!
Hill manufactured the Phillies’ first run of the game in the third innings by showing off his speed. After reaching on an error, he stole second, then stole third and then scored on a Trea Turner sac fly to center.
In the bottom of the third, with a man on, Zach McKinstry launched a ball into the left-center field gap. Hill tracked it down, jumped and made a spectacular diving catch.
J.T. Realmuto added two more runs in the 4th inning on a two-run double. Then Hill tacked on another run with an RBI single to left that brought J.T. home for a 4-0 Phillies advantage.
Cristopher Sanchez bounced back from his K.C. catastrophe where he allowed 9 runs against the Royals to toss 7-plus innings allowing just two runs but did surrender 10 hits.

The Philadelphia Phillies fall to the Detroit Tigers 10-2 thanks to ANOTHER bullpen Blow Up!
Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and looked to be on his way to a second consecutive solid start, but before the 6th inning he was surprisingly pulled. Nola allowed just two runs and thrown only 84 pitches.
Don Mattingly turned to Tim Mayza for the 6th and Mayza promptly gave up five runs in the inning. The Phillies interim skipper said after the game (and after this show recorded) that he'll "probably lose sleep" over his decision to pull Nola when he did.
It was all Tigers after the 5th.
Derek Hill started for Justin Crawford in center field and Hill recorded three of the Phillies four hits and drove in both runs.
