The Philadelphia Phillies BLOW a 4-2 LEAD and lose to the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4 WASTING a great night for Andrew Painter!
Just five weeks after demoting Andrew Painter the Phillies decided the young righty he had improved enough over five starts and recalled him to help the big league club.
Painter did not disappoint.
The 24-year-old shook off a rough first inning, where he gave up a two-run homer to Pete Alonso and tossed six innings of two-run, three-hit, three-walk baseball while striking out six. He sat ten-straight between the 3rd and 6th innings.
Painter’s stuff was noticeably better than his last start for the Phillies back on July 17th. All his pitches
A home runs by Trea Turner and J.T. Realmuto as well as RBI's from Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh helped give the Phillies a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the 7th.
In the 7th, Orion Kerkering came on in relief and was charged for four runs thanks in part to Tim Mazya who allowed two of Kerkering's runners to score on a two-run triple by Gunner Henderson.

The Philadelphia Phillies hit rock bottom after blowing a 6-0 lead and getting swept by the Miami Marlins—can they recover in time to save their playoff hopes? Connor Thomas dissects the Phillies’ latest collapse, spotlighting mental lapses, bullpen woes, and the glaring gap between the team’s potential and its on-field performance. Is an aggressive trade deadline approach the shot in the arm this roster desperately needs, or are deeper problems at play?
Tension rises as manager Don Mattingly and star Bryce Harper spark public friction over roster moves and front office strategy, complicated by Preston Mattingly’s role as GM. Thomas explores which big-league players and top prospects are truly movable, including Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, and Justin Crawford, and what it might take for Philadelphia to reignite its season. Will new faces—or a change in attitude—be enough to turn the tide before the trade deadline closes?

The discussion covers Harper’s pointed plea for front office help, potential trade targets like Zach Neto and Byron Buxton, and how the team’s faltering offense affects postseason hopes. Key topics include the Phillies’ aging core, recent player slumps, the challenge of a depleted farm system, and the risks of standing pat at the deadline. The Philadelphia Phillies fall to the Miami Marlins 1-0 as they can't figure out Sandy Alcantara!
Aaron Nola made one big mistake, allowing a solo homer by KYLE Stowers (Not Eli, sorry, I had Eagles Training Camp on the brain) in the first inning. Nola went on to toss a total of 5.2ip.
As for the bats, they had no answer for Sandy Alcantara who tossed seven innings of one-run baseball.

The Philadelphia Phillies lose for the 5th time in their last 6 games as Zack Wheeler and Jhoan Duran have uncharacteristic performances on the mound against the Miami Marlins. How concerned should fans be about 2 of the most trusted arms on the Phillies staff both getting shelled against a division rival? And could Wheeler be fading as we reach the late stages of this season?
On top of the pitching issues, is Brandon Marsh now being viewed as a platoon player? Connor discusses why it is disrespectful to the All-Star starter to not give him continued starts considering the weakness of the rest of the Phillies outfielders this year. Also, a conversation on the trade deadline and whether going all-in is a prudent option considering the team's recent struggles. Would selling be a better strategy, even with major talent still on the roster?
Find out why the Philadelphia Phillies most important stretch of the season so far is not going as planned, and how it could affect the trade deadline for a huge stretch run.

Zack Wheeler's struggles start it, Jhoan Duran's struggles BLOW IT as the Philadelphia Phillies fall to the Miami Marlins, 8-7.
Wheeler started for the Phillies and got the quick hook after allowing five runs on six hits over just three innings of work.
Then the Bullpen came in and calmed the storm as the Phillies bats stormed back taking a 7-5 lead!
The Phillies would take that lead into the bottom of the 9th where Duran went on to blow his second save of the season.
Wheeler did struggle in the loss, but he did have some help from the Phillies defense. In the bottom of the first, Zack Wheeler gave up a single to Otto Lopez. Lopez then stole second on a throwing error from J.T. Realmuto that bounced off Bryson Stott’s mitt and towards first base. Trea Turner, slow to back up the play allowed Lopez to pop up and head towards third. Turner then rushed a throw to third and bounced it past Alec Bohm allowing Lopez to score the Marlins’ first run.
Then in the 2nd inning, after Wheeler allowed a leadoff homer to Griffin Conine, he walked Sanoja on four pitches and then allowed a one-out RBI double to Jakob Marsee to give the Marlins a 4-2 advantage. The Marlins tacked on another in the inning when Lopez put a ball into right/center field that Justin Crawford dove for and missed horribly giving Lopez an RBI triple.
The Phillies fought back in the 6th inning. Trailing 5-2, Bryce Harper led off with a walk and advanced to second on a Brandon Marsh ground out to first. Alec Bohm then stepped up and drove a 2-1 slider into center field for an RBI single. Bryson Stott then smacked a single to right putting runners on first and second with one out. The Marlins went to the bullpen and brought in Tyler Zuber to face Realmuto and J.T. made them pay hitting an RBI ground-rule double to right.
He came around to score after a Justin Crawford RBI single and another run scored on the play on an error. Phillies took a 6-5 lead by the end of the 6th.
Bryson Stott led off the 8th with a triple and scored on a Realmuto Sac Fly RBI.

Philadelphia Phillies search for answers as offensive woes deepen—will a blockbuster Byron Buxton trade ignite their playoff push?
Connor Thomas breaks down the Phillies’ third straight series loss since the All-Star break, spotlighting the team’s inconsistent lineup despite stars like Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Bryson Stott. The Philadelphia Phillies avoid the sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees with an 11-4 victory!
The Phillies started the scoring early, which is nothing new, but what WAS new was the fact that the Phillies KEPT scoring!
Trea Turner leadoff with a triple in the bottom of the first then scored on a Kyle Schwarber brought him home on a sac fly RBI. Bryson Stott added another run in the 2nd on a solo homer to right, then Alec Bohm blew things open in the 3rd with a three-run double in the 3rd followed by a Bryson Stott RBI Single. By the close of the 3rd inning, the Phillies led 6-0.
In the 5th the Yankees plated three to make it a 6-3 game, but the Phillies responded scoring five in the bottom of the 6th. Bryson Stott drove in three on a double with the bases loaded with two outs.
Then Bryson Stott and the Phillies responded in the bottom of the 6th by scoring five more runs including a three-run two-out double by Stott.
Stott finished the day going 3-for-4 with five RBI's.
Cristopher Sanchez started for the Phillies and tossed six innings of three-run baseball and picked up the win to improve to 13-4 on the season.
