The Philadelphia Phillies get INSTANT PRODUCTION from Louis Arraez as they beat the Washington Nationals, 5-0!
Louis Arraez wasted NO time helping his new club, hitting an RBI single in his first at bat in the first inning of the ball game. Then in the 3rd, Arraez drove in another on an RBI double. Just like that, two at bats as a Phillie, two RBI base-knocks!
The Phillies plated two more in the 3rd on a Sac Fly RBI by Alex Bohm and an RBI double by Brandon Marsh.
As for the defensive shift of Arraez to 2nd, Stott to 3rd, Bohm to 1st, Harper to RF…All played perfectly in the field.
Jesus Luzardo shook off his last outing where he allowed six runs on six hits vs the Marlins to toss eight-scoreless innings against the Nationals allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out seven. He threw 98 pitches over his start.

Philadelphia Phillies shuffle infield after Luis Arraez acquisition—yet struggling fielder Trea Turner remains at shortstop. Is team chemistry at risk with egos in play, or is there a bigger front office strategy at work?
Bold lineup changes see Bryce Harper back in right field, Alec Bohm at first, and Bryson Stott moving to third, while Turner’s defensive woes spark frustration. The conversation focused on the Phillies’ possible handshake deal with Turner, Dave Dombrowski’s rationale, and what this means for postseason dreams. Key insights include how the lineup should be optimized with Arraez in the top two spots, Derek Hill’s timely heroics, and Aaron Nola snapping a month-long non-ace win drought. DEREK HILL gives the Philadelphia Phillies the JOLT they need with Grand Slam HOME RUN to help get past the Nationals, 6-3
The Phillies trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the 7th in South Philly as they couldn’t do much against Nats’ starter Andrew Alvarez. However, the left plunked Bryan De La Cruz with an 0-2 slider and then walked Bryson Stott on five pitches. The Nationals then called to the bullpen for Tom Cosgrove. He walked Edmundo Sosa to load the bases and Derek Hill followed by clobbering a GRAND SLAM HOME RUN to left center field for a 4-3 Phillies Lead!
It’s the second time this season Derek Hill hit a game winning homer against the Nationals. The other one came on June 24th when the Phillies trailed 4-3 in the top of the 9th in D.C. when Hill to Richard Lovelady deep on a 1-2 fastball with two outs.
Bryce Harper added a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th for his 24th homer of the season and a 6-3 Phillies lead.
Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and made two big mistakes early, both resulting in home runs. Nat’s rookie, Abimelec Ortiz smacked a hanging 3-2 Knuckle Curve from Nola 390 feet to right for a two-run homer just two batters into the game. Then in the 2nd, Nola threw a 2-2 fast ball at the top of the zone to Daylen Lile and he did not miss it. He put it over the right field wall for his 14th homer of the season.

The Philadelphia Phillies bolster shaky bullpen with trades for Caleb Kilian and Brooks Raley—are they now true contenders or still a move away from dominance?
Connor Thomas breaks down the Phillies’ latest acquisitions, analyzing Raley’s consistency as a lefty reliever and Killian’s breakout strikeout potential. The discussion spotlights the bullpen’s ongoing vulnerabilities, questions surrounding Jose Alvarado’s reliability in high-leverage situations, and the need for another impact arm ahead of the postseason. Key topics include Phillies’ prospect sacrifices in both deals, the strategic fit for Raley and Killian, and potential targets as the trade deadline approaches.
Will Dave Dombrowski’s aggressive moves be enough to transform the Phillies’ World Series hopes, or is another deal still crucial for October success?

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-0 in a rain-shortened game Sunday afternoon!
The Win clinches the Phillies FIRST series win since the All-Star Break!
For the 2nd straight night, Bryan De La Cruz put the Phillies on the board first; it was an RBI single in the 5th inning of game two of this series and this afternoon it was a 400-foot two-run homer to center field that gave the Phillies a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning.
The Game featured a one hour and forty-nine minute rain delay in the middle of the 3rd inning.
It was up to the Phillies bullpen to keep the Orioles’ bats at bay as the delay cut Zack Wheeler’s start short after two-scoreless innings. The righty allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out three.
The Bullpen arms of Kyle Backhus and Tim Mayza.
As for the Phillies' offense, they scored two more in the 4th inning on a bases loaded four-pitch walk by Bryson Stott and an RBI ground-put by Justin Crawford. In the 5th, Byrce Harper hit his 23rd homer of the season and in the 6th the Phillies scored three more runs thanks to a RBI double from Crawford followed by a pair of sac-fly RBIs by De La Cruz and Kyle Schwarber.
