We live in a time where so many humans are making choices out of fear. Fear, in many ways, is the antithesis to Love. In the presence of fear, and the separation and disconnection that it creates, Love does not find fertile grounds to plant its seeds. As we watch the unfolding conflict between Russia and Ukraine, this week's episode is an exploration of what it means to find and choose Love in times of war. I explore the deep Lovelessness that makes war and violence possible, and I propose that this time is an invitation into a deeper examination of our own shadows and the places inside of us that we would rather not see.
When we witness violence in the world, we are often tempted to step into our moral superiority. To say "I would never choose violence in this way. I'm not like that". In this episode, I share my own shadows with you; the previously unconscious parts of my being that desire violence, control, and domination over others. I invite you into a reflection on the shadows of our collective, and offer the perspective that until we reckon with these shadowy aspects of our human experience we will continue to see them play out on a global (and local) stage.
This week's episode is an invitation to look into where our collective unconscious is becoming manifest in the world and to become aware of these dark, shadowy, unconscious aspects of ourselves so that we may begin the work of alchemizing them and making way for new paradigms and ways of being to emerge.
