  • Trump Tactics - Ep 64

If you've been following me, you might have caught my recent talk about Donald Trump and the business lessons we can learn from him. Regardless of your opinion on Trump, he's a master at positioning himself as the lone hero fighting against corruption. This approach has garnered him a dedicated following and even raised $58 million overnight after a conviction for corporate corruption.

In business, it's crucial to position yourself as the hero fighting against some form of injustice. Take, for example, a marketing company I worked with that guarantees results or you don't pay, standing out in an industry known for charging a fortune without delivering. At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, we focus on genuine consultations that promote overall health rather than just appearance, positioning ourselves against the industry trend of pushing unnecessary treatments.

By identifying and addressing the common injustices in your industry, you can position yourself as the lone warrior and gain loyal fans. Even if you dislike Donald Trump, there are valuable lessons to learn from his strategies.

Welcome to The Spinoso Podcast hosted by CEO, doctor, comic book geek, and car guy, Alex Spinoso. I help people and companies grow - especially in the medical business. While my experience and expertise is in scaling all types of medical businesses to 7, 8, 9-figures or more, I can be a mentor to anyone who wants to take ownership of their lives, become a better leader at home and at work, and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.

  • How To Become A Futurist Entrepreneur - Ep 63

Today, we're diving into the future and exploring how we can capitalize on emerging trends. Whether you're an entrepreneur, medical professional, or just someone looking to stay ahead, this episode is for you. We'll discuss some intriguing questions that will spark ideas about what's to come.

What's the most significant cultural change in America over the next 10 years that entrepreneurs can capitalize on? People are getting lazier. Not in a bad way, but in a way that they want things faster and easier. Think about how pizza delivery evolved from a 30-minute wait to just 5 minutes at places like Blaze Pizza. Entrepreneurs who focus on making things simple and user-friendly will win, just like how Apple dominates because even a toddler can use their devices.

In the medical world, telehealth is booming and will continue to do so. I've seen it firsthand from my time in the prison system, and COVID accelerated its adoption by 20 years. Faster, easier access to healthcare is the future, and we need to adapt to that.

We also touched on social media trends, the future of aesthetics, and the impact of political and cultural changes on entrepreneurship. Plus, we had a fascinating discussion about relationships in the age of hookup culture and how it might evolve. Will people become more deliberate in choosing partners, or will the trend of quick and convenient connections continue?

Welcome to The Spinoso Podcast hosted by CEO, doctor, comic book geek, and car guy, Alex Spinoso. I help people and companies grow - especially in the medical business. While my experience and expertise is in scaling all types of medical businesses to 7, 8, 9-figures or more, I can be a mentor to anyone who wants to take ownership of their lives, become a better leader at home and at work, and overcome any obstacle that stands in their way.

  • Building Clinics With Your Core Values | Medical Monday - Ep 62

Today's Medical Monday focuses on the crucial role of core values in your business. Beyond getting patients and providing excellent service, core values are the backbone of your organization. Initially, they reflect you or your co-founders, but as you grow, your executives should also embody and contribute to these values. Living your core values means hiring, firing, reprimanding, and bonusing based on them. At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, we reinforce our values through daily reminders, bookmarks, and metal cards carried by our staff. Our mnemonic "DIG DEEP and ACT with Integrity" stands for Determination, Innovation, Growth, Accountability, Customer Service, Teamwork, and Integrity, helping our staff remember and embody these values daily.

Consistent communication about core values is key. At companies like Ritz Carlton, daily meetings focus on a core value, reinforcing it deeply into the company culture. Similarly, at Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, we ensure our core values are discussed in weekly meetings and tied to every aspect of our business, from training to disciplinary actions. We offer opportunities like profit sharing or equity ownership to clinic directors and nurse practitioners, inspired by Chick-fil-A's model. This approach has allowed us to scale from one clinic to 23 in less than five years. If you want to go far, go together; giving opportunities to others creates more for yourself.

Training and communication are crucial for maintaining core values across multiple locations. We have three training centers where new employees learn our core values and standard operating procedures. Even with just one clinic, you can train new staff alongside existing ones who embody your values. Scaling across state lines requires extra effort, like ensuring staff from new locations train at established ones for consistency.

  • Make Entrepreneurship Great Again - Ep 61

In today's episode, I dive into two intertwined topics: entrepreneurship and Donald Trump. Whether you love or hate Trump, there's something to learn from him. Ignoring lessons from people you don't like is a missed opportunity. I discuss the genius behind Trump's 2016 motto, "Make America Great Again," which played a crucial role in his historic political victory. We'll break down what made this slogan so effective and how you can apply these lessons to your business.

First, consider Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan—do you remember it? Probably not, because it wasn't memorable. In contrast, "Make America Great Again" had three key qualities you can use for your business: it cast a vision of something bigger, it called people to a mission, and it created controversy. These elements are crucial for rallying people around a cause and creating a movement.

So, to sum it up, the three things we can learn from "Make America Great Again" are: your vision should be about something bigger than any one person, it should call people to a mission, and it should have a hint of controversy. Love him or hate him, Trump managed one of the biggest political upsets by defeating Hillary Clinton, and a big part of his success was due to the power of his motto. If you want your company to grow and thrive, incorporate these lessons. Learn from everyone and grow. Make entrepreneurship great again.

  • Spiderweb Scaling - Ep 60

In today's podcast, we dive deep into how to maximize your earnings in the medical business. One key point that stood out and is relevant to all entrepreneurs is the importance of building your products and services in a vertically integrated manner, even if you have just one location.

We'll discuss practical strategies for medical professionals, like the benefits of focusing on complementary services that enhance each other, such as combining weight loss with hormone therapy and sexual health treatments. We'll also talk about the importance of maintaining patient relationships and providing comprehensive care that addresses the underlying issues rather than just the symptoms.

Beyond the medical field, these principles apply to any business. Whether you're running a marketing agency or another type of business, the concept of vertical integration and creating value for your clients by offering a full package of services can significantly boost your success.

  • How To Stay Updated On Industry Trends In Your Clinics | Medical Monday - Ep 59

Today, we're diving into industry trends and best practices for scaling medical companies. In the medical clinic and medical spa world, things move slowly. While new machines and products generate buzz, it's the tried-and-true ones that are always stable. We constantly look for new trends but only adopt those tested over time.

Sticking with your business pillars and not getting caught up in every new trend is crucial. We focus on sustainable treatments like weight loss, which addresses the rising obesity rates. Always consult legal counsel and accountants to ensure compliance and sound financial practices. We stay updated by observing industry leaders and using tools like Google Trends and SEMrush to gauge the popularity and demand of new services. Following well-marketed and reliable services ensures growth and stability.

  • Facts Are Friends - Ep 58

In today's episode, we're going to talking about feelings and facts. People feel all sorts of things: they feel like the Earth is flat, they feel like everyone in America should get a standard minimum income, and they even feel like, despite having the body of a man or a woman, they're actually a dolphin. But as it's often said, facts don't care about your feelings. This is absolutely true in business. If you want to succeed, you have to operate on facts, not feelings.

At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, we thought we were thriving in laser hair removal with fully booked machines at 12 locations. However, after our CFO analyzed each service's profitability, we found out that despite appearing successful on the surface, laser hair removal was actually losing us money. We had to hire more staff, allocate dedicated rooms, and incur high marketing costs. Once all expenses were accounted for, each machine was costing us $14,000 a year, leading to an annual loss of $170,000.

To improve profitability, you need to analyze each service individually. We eliminated laser hair removal and saw a 20% increase in net income. This also allowed our team to focus on more profitable services. Operating on facts, not feelings, is crucial in every area of life. It may hurt to face the truth, but doing so helps you and your business get better. Facts are your friends; they help you improve and succeed.

  • 200 Million Dollars (20 Minutes At a Time) - Ep 57

In this episode, I'm zooming in on a crucial 20-minute segment that can significantly impact the success of your business: the consultation before a customer purchases any service from Genesis or any other company. We'll dive into the importance of these consultations, which are essentially conversations where we understand the customer's needs and explain how our products or services can address those needs.

Every clinic, regardless of industry, has its version of a "consultation." This isn't just about selling; it's about building a foundation of trust with potential customers. People only buy from you if they trust you. If they don't, they'll never spend a dollar on your services. Building that trust means being honest, not pushing products or services that customers don't need, and ensuring the solution you offer genuinely addresses their problems.

You can apply this principle not only to food but also to habits that contribute to success.
