Military Murder

In November 2018, U.S. Air Force veteran Dominic Marino was found bound with duct tape and fatally shot inside his East Hartford, Connecticut home. His house had been ransacked, but valuables were left behind. His loyal German Shepherd was unharmed and neighbors said they never heard anything - not even a barking dog.

Nearly seven years later, no one has been arrested.

Was this a targeted attack? What were the intruders looking for? Was Dominic the intended target? And who still holds the information that could finally solve this case?

Dig in with Margot, as she walks you through Dominic’s life, the crime scene, the investigation, and the unanswered questions that continue to haunt his family.

If you have any information about the case, please contact: East Hartford PD at 860-291-7640 or the Connecticut Cold Case Unit at 866-623-8058.

Jennifer Evans was murdered in the summer of 1995 while vacationing in Virginia. Two Navy Seal recruits were arrested and convicted of her murder. The men were Dustin Turner and Billy Brown. At the time, both men pointed the finger at each other as the man who killed Jennifer.

Dustin Turner was sentenced to 82 years. Billy Brown was sentenced to 72 years.

Years later, Billy admitted he was Jennifer’s killer. Since then, Turner has left no stone unturned in his attempts to exonerate himself and gain his freedom. And after several parole denials, things changed in 2026.

Dig in with Margot and she updates you on one of the most infamous Navy military murder cases of our time.

When Michael Ryan Burke posted an iPhone on Facebook Marketplace, he was just trying to find an honest buyer, maybe haggle, and move on. But instead, he became the target of a Facebook marketplace scam that began a few days earlier.

A buyer agreed to meet for the phone, and Ryan gave his home address. But when the buyer showed up, he came armed and with a posse. He intended to steal the iPhone, not pay for it. Within minutes, Ryan lay dying on the floor of his house, but he managed to dial 911 and text his mom and sister that he loved them. Sadly, he died from his injuries.

Dig in with Margot, as she walks you through the probable cause affidavit and the investigation that lead to the arrest of 4 individuals who now stand charged with the murder of Michael Ryan Burke, a Marine veteran who was loved by all.

When Deputy Joshua Moyers set out on patrol on September 23, 2021, he had no idea it would be his last time. That night, a routine traffic stop turned volatile fast. Inside the vehicle were two occupants high on meth, and the driver had an active warrant.

What happened next sparked a five-day manhunt that gripped the community and ended in an unexpected place: the bathroom of a local baseball park. The suspect, Patrick McDowell, was a Marine veteran with a troubled history, and the evidence revealed he was determined not to go back to jail.

Dig in with Margot as she walks you through the stop that turned deadly, the intense search that followed, and the death-penalty outcome that remains tied up in the appellate courts today.

In the summer of 2024, an innocent sleepover turned violent when an intruder secretly entered the home in the middle of the night and ambushed a sleeping 11-year old girl.

The man accused of this heinous crime was not a career criminal nor a drifter, but a Marine recruiter by the name of Ricardo Perez Castillo. What brought him to that house, and what happened inside, would become the focus of a criminal investigation that ended with a no-contest plea.

Dig in with Margot as she unpacks this seemingly random act of violence that changed many lives in the blink of an eye.

Gerard Parvilus and his wife had been married for two years and shared a young son. Both were members of the U.S. Air Force and were stationed at Holloman AFB. But by 2007, their marriage was unraveling. The couple separated geographically, each taking short overseas tours. She went to Kuwait. He went to South Korea.

During that separation, Gerard’s wife asked for a divorce. Then she admitted something else: while deployed, she had met another man. That confession alone was devastating. But it wasn’t the end of it.

She later revealed that she had become pregnant by her lover, Pierre Smith, and terminated the pregnancy after returning to New Mexico.

The fallout from that confession was immediate. Gerard spiraled. He then went AWOL from Kunsan Air Base.

What happened next would leave one man dead, shock everyone involved, and ultimately reshape New Mexico law.

Dig in with Margot as she unpacks this love-triangle murder case involving a dual-military couple, an affair, an AWOL airman, two kidnappings, and a legal precedent that still stands today.

There’s no military connection and no murder in this case, but it’s a jaw-dropping story of trust, betrayal, and deception at the highest level of professional sports.

Be sure to follow Housewives of True Crime wherever you listen to podcasts.
