Military Murder

In May 2020, 27-year-old Fort Hood soldier Brandon Scott Rosecrans was found shot to death on the side of a quiet road in Harker Heights, Texas. A few miles away, his bright orange Jeep Renegade was discovered engulfed in flames.

What looked like a random ambush quickly unraveled into a story of betrayal, greed, and a gun deal gone horribly wrong.

In this episode, Margot walks through the investigation that traced Brandon’s final hours, and how they ultimately nagged the killers. In the end, you’ll be left wondering - did someone actually get away with murder in this case?

In Part Two, the investigation into the Andersen Air Force Base ambush closes in on its prime suspect: SrA Jose Simoy. As Simoy goes on the run, FBI, OSI, and Security Police search the island of Guam for a killer hiding behind wigs, aliases, and threats. What follows is a dramatic capture, a capital court-martial, and a landmark death sentence (the first on Guam in 44 years).

But a death sentence doesn’t always mean death…

Margot also follows the journeys of the co-conspirators, the emotional and physical aftermath for the two survivors, and the legacy of Sergeant Stacy Levay, a newlywed defender whose life was taken far too soon.

This is the conclusion to one of the most brazen crimes ever committed on an Air Force installation.

On December 29, 1991, a routine night-deposit escort at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam turned into a deadly ambush. Cash clerk Peregrina Armour and Security Policeman Sergeant Stacy Levay were attacked outside the base bank by a group of masked men—one armed with a rifle, another with a lead pipe. Within minutes, one airman was fighting for his life… and another lay mortally wounded on his 29th birthday.

In Part One, Margot breaks down the weeks-long conspiracy led by Senior Airman Jose Simoy, a Security Policeman who used his insider knowledge to plan the perfect heist. But when the attack turns violent—and the getaway goes sideways—Simoy makes a desperate move to cover his tracks.

This shocking case exposes a brutal crime on Andersen AFB in Guam, a botched alibi, and the beginning of a massive manhunt across a 30-mile island.

On November 8, 2019, 24-year-old Morgan Patten traveled 13 hours to Jacksonville, North Carolina, to visit her fiancé. She made it to Jacksonville, but never made it to see her fiancé. Instead, she ended up in a truck with two Marines she didn’t know…and within hours, she was dead on a dark and desolate road.

Officials called it a drunk-driving accident.

Morgan’s parents say the evidence tells a different story.

In this episode, Margot pieces together Morgan’s final hours. We explore security footage, bar receipts, and text messages exchanged between the two Marines, Hunter Wells and Charles Cornwall. We explore disturbing inconsistencies in the investigation, forensic red flags, unexplained DNA, and the question at the heart of this case:

How did Morgan end up in that truck?

For six years, Morgan’s parents have carried the burden of uncovering the truth. They have funded their own investigators, hired forensic experts, and fought to have evidence released for independent testing. Their search has uncovered shocking details that have never before been publicly unpacked in this way.

If you know something about that night… it’s time to come forward.

In 1976, 35-year-old mother of two, Edwina Marter, was taken from her Mississippi home by a man demanding ransom. What began as a chilling kidnapping for money soon became one of the state’s longest-running death penalty cases.

The man responsible was Vietnam veteran Richard Gerald Jordan. He would spend nearly five decades fighting his conviction, as the case wound through courts and appeals until it finally ended in the summer of 2025.

Join Margot as she revisits the shocking crime, the man behind it, and the long, tangled road to justice.

Tiffany Hill lived in constant fear because she was a victim of domestic abuse. In November 2019, her estranged husband, Keland Hill, was released on bail—even though his risk of committing domestic violence homicide was alarmingly high. He was a walking red flag. Just five days later, he killed Tiffany and then took his own life.

In this episode, we cover Tiffany’s story, the investigation, and how her tragic death inspired the Tiffany Hill Act—a law that allows judges to require GPS monitoring for high-risk abusers, alerting victims and law enforcement if the offender enters their zone of protection.

Let’s honor Tiffany’s memory and continue pushing for similar laws nationwide.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or visit thehotline.org for confidential help.

In 2009, Chris and Sheri Coleman lived in a quiet community in Illinois with their 2 young sons, Garett and Gavin. Both veterans, they thought they had left danger behind when they left the service. But when Chris began receiving death threats because of his work as head of security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, life got scary and tense.

The threats began in November 2008 and culminated in May 2009, when Sheri and her kids were murdered in the family home. Red paint scrawled upon the walls told Chris that he paid the ultimate price.

Detectives would need to find the deranged killer who committed this heinous crime. But they wouldn’t have to look too far.

Join Margot as she walks you through the shocking revelations discovered in the investigation.
