  • 108 - The Metric for Marriage Alignment

In order for us to feel momentum, we have to have a way to keep score. Something has to give us perspective to let us know that we are actually making progress and winning. For a lot of people the idea of measuring a marriageIs surprising. I know I have this conversation all the time. I've also found that there is a consistent metric that will... Reduce or eliminate the number one argument that couples have. Create foundational stability in a relationship. Create new levels of alignment in your marriage. If you are married, this one is a game changer.

  • 107 - You Can't Do it All Yourself with Adam and Jennifer Sewell

It doesn't matter how long you been an entrepreneur, or how long you have a running team, sooner or later you have the thought "wouldn't it easier if I just did all of this myself?" Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs get stuck in the place where they are doing it all themselves. Less than 10% of entrepreneurs ever build a team and any type of foundational stability. Adam and Jennifer Sewell ran a medical practice what they were doing everything themselves. The pressure got so high that it wasn't good for them, their team, or the patients they were helping. Many doctors just stay in this condition, grinding it out every day and having a marginal effect on those around them. That wasn't enough for adamant Jennifer, they decided to radically change the way they run their practice. As you will hear in this interview, they went from being overwhelmed and doing it all themselves did focusing on their health, their business, and creating massive momentum. I know you are going to be as inspired by them as I am.

  • 106 - Growing Your Business Starts With You, Jay Berube

It is one of the last things we think about as entrepreneurs when we are growing a business there is so much to focus on… Are we doing the right things, are we bringing in the right people, are we getting enough leads, are we taking the right steps to grow our business? One of the easiest ways to ensure we are doing all of these things is to grow ourselves. When we put foundational processes in place that support us as an entrepreneur everything in our lives will start to move in the right direction. Jay Berube is a client and a friend of mine. He is also an amazingly aware entrepreneur. In this interview, he shares how he is creating momentum in all areas of life, by focusing on himself and his marriage. You will hear how putting focus on the right things has empowered Jay to do more than he ever thought he could.

  • 105 - Never Manage By Walking Around

Management By Walking Around is a recognized management system that consultants teach and management courses encourage. This is something entrepreneurs are encouraged to do in order to help their teams grow. Sometimes there are strategies that people share because they don't know any better. Management by walking around is one of them. It may be one of the worst ways to manage people. Even though just about everyone else recognizes this as a strategy for success, let me explain why this is a strategy for sure failure for entrepreneurs

  • 104 - Hack Your Goals to Win

There is a reason why most people who set goals don't achieve them. They have been sold a bill of goods that setting unachievable unrealistic goals is somehow it way to motivate ourselves. When I go to an event and the overenthusiastic "goalsetting" speaker gets up I always have to go out in the hallway. The person who tells everyone in the room to write down the biggest income goal they have ever imagined, then cross it out and double it. I cringe every time I hear this. Anyone who tells you to set goals like this isn't going to stick around to make sure that you actually achieve them. Most people who teach people how to set goals, don't have a lot in the way of tactics of how to get there. Let me help you hack your goal setting this year so you can teach your team to win.

  • 103 - Having an Affair With Your Business

It is not uncommon for an entrepreneur to hear "you are cheating on me with your business" from their spouse. As entrepreneurs, we have a hard time admitting it, but our spouse is the most important person there is to us. None of us wants to intentionally disappoint our spouse. We want them to be happy because we know it makes everything feel better for us. If you've heard this, I want to help you. If you haven't heard this, you don't ever have to. There is a process to how we get to the point where our spouse says this. There is also a process for you to walk yourself out of this.

  • 102 - Let Go and Help your Team

As entrepreneurs, we want to make progress, move things forward, and of course get into momentum. As a result, we are willing to do just about anything to get there. We will work hard, take on more than we should, makes sacrifices, push ourselves to the point of illness, and do just about anything it takes. There's a point time in our career where this is exactly how we should be. When we are first starting out, we have to do everything and make things happen. The problem is if we continue down this path, we not only hurt ourselves we fundamentally limit the growth of our team. It's a hard connection to make, but the more we let go, the more we help our team.

  • 101 - When You Become Numb to Money

I realized that the concept of becoming them to money may seem difficult to conceive. There was a time in my life I never would have believed I could become numb to making more money. For me, like most entrepreneurs, money was the most compelling metric in my life. I did everything I could to make more, and when I made it I tried to make that money make even more for me. But I can remember the transition from being incredibly excited about money too seemingly all of a sudden becoming numb to making more. It happen much faster than I ever thought it would and did a much lower level of net worth than I ever thought possible. I had gone through the five stages of an entrepreneur's relationship with money and it just wasn't as important as it used to be. There is only one way I have found to overcome this feeling but it has worked 100% of the time.

  • 100 - You Are Not Alone

Every entrepreneur in history has felt alone. We have felt isolated, different, and even like a party of one. The systems and structures around us reinforce this feeling of isolation and being different. I was so different when I was younger that I didn't even know how to access help. Instead of turning to the people around me, I obsessively read about successful people. I read hundreds then thousands of biographies, life histories, third-party accounts, and anything I could get my hands on that would show me how successful people, became successful. I expected to find magic. People with abilities and skills that no one else had. People who were somehow gifted and able to create outcomes that the rest of us struggle to even fathom. I was sure that I would find some unique properties that these people had that made them who they were. What I found was shocking.

  • 99 - Leadership is Repetition not Dictation

One of the biggest complaints entrepreneurs have when building a team is that they have to repeat themselves. They feel like their team doesn't listen to them and has a hard time understanding what they want. The issue is one of perspective.

For you things are clear, you can anticipate the future and see where the company is going. For your team is the opposite, they're taking a step off a cliff each day and hoping that it fills in. they will have to have things repeated to them often, especially those that are new. Each time you have to repeat yourself or reinforce something with your team, you should think to yourself that this is the time you're spending so that you don't have to do-it-yourself.

This perspective will help you not only lead a team, the growth of people on your team, and exponentially grow your company.
