There is an infinite number of things you can be exposed to on a daily basis.
You could watch the news, read a newspaper, pick up a political magazine, and so much more. Are any of those giving you momentum?
I encourage every entrepreneur I work with to build a bubble around them that insulates them from anything that will distract from momentum. The people places and things in our lives are either giving us momentum or they are taking it away. There is no in between.
When we become radically selfish and isolate ourselves from what takes away our momentum, we create the level of focus necessary to change the world.
If you are ready more for more momentum than you ever thought possible, build your momentum bubble.
Every entrepreneur dreams of running a company that grows fast. Not just a normal fast, but explosively fast. As fast as we want to make our contribution, as fast as we want to make a difference, and as fast as we want to make an impact. Very few entrepreneurs ever get to experience this dynamic. Most know they can do more, contribute more, and make more happen but they can't get everything to come together so the growth happens all at once. Entrepreneurs who are able to pull this off are rare. Alex and Leila Hormozi are the exception. Between July to November 2017, they have grown their team from 3 to over 20 and their revenue from a couple million dollars a year, to over $1 million dollars a month! This interview with Leila will give you insight as to how you can make this happen in your company.
Understanding the difference between a vitamin or a painkiller can be the difference between making millions and making little or nothing. Getting attention today is harder than it is ever been. There is more noise around the people you want to talk to then ever before. When you sell a vitamin, very few people will hear you, or care. This is a mistake I have made for years and it was incredibly painful, I'm in many here to save you from the same loss of momentum. As soon as I realized I was selling my product as a vitamin instead of a painkiller, I changed everything and everything changed. Apply this to your product or anything that you sell and you will get the same result.
Let's be honest, there is a reason why the majority of the world thinks that meeting sucked. They are disorganized, difficult to get through, and often feel like they don't have a point. Sitting through a bad meeting is torturous. It's time of your life that you will never get back. There is however a different way to hold meetings. When you create a structure, and then get real, raw, and vulnerable and tell your team what is really going on, it will create momentum like you never thought possible. Sometimes the results are so shocking, even the entrepreneur running the meeting can't believe how incredible it is. When you hear the reactions from Brandon and Kaelin Poulin, the founders of Lady Boss, you may not believe that they are this excited about a meeting with their team.
Every entrepreneur I work with dreams of being able to call their shots, tell people where they are going, and then have their team lead the way there. Unfortunately very few entrepreneurs actually have a team that can lead the way they're going because on most entrepreneurs' teams, don't know where they are going. Instead, on a daily basis team members come in and work on as much as they possibly can hoping to do the right thing and move the business forward. Overtime, the ambiguity of what they are responsible for will wear on them and break them down. Great team members can become good team members and can then become a challenge. There's a better way.
When a team is provided with a forward-looking planning system, they can anticipate what is needed next. If you are ready to create a world changing organization, this is not something that is nice to have, a forward planning system is a requirement.
For entrepreneurs it is hard to unplug from momentum. It is the greatest feeling in the world to people like us and once we achieve it and we are feeling it, we are terrified of giving it up. One we are achieving the outcomes we want in our business, we want to stay there and focus 100% of our time. Our business calls to us, we think about it even when we aren't working, and we can't imagine what we would do without it. This drive for momentum can cause us to neglect the people around us, especially our family. When this happens, we will eventually lose momentum, and sometimes in a dramatic way. There is a better way, when we learn how to spend time with family the right way, it gives us a unique kind of momentum that it's hard to find anywhere else.
I don't meditate. I can't meditate. I don't want to meditate. I hear all of these from entrepreneurs when I asked them the simple question "do you meditate?" I understand why. For people like us who can't turn it off and don't know why anyone would want to, the idea of clearing our minds seems impossible and unnecessary. The way meditation is presented by most people who have figured it out it's so ambiguous and difficult to understand that it makes just about anyone feel like they can't get there. Meditation isn't about clearing your mind or having a spiritual or religious experience. There is a better way to look at this that will create massive momentum for you and for everyone around you.
Running a successful business is one of the most spiritual undertakings we can elect in our lifetimes. It is more difficult than just about anything else we do. As we start to build our team, building our business becomes exponentially complicated. This isn't something you can do in a weekend or read a book and take care of. Building a team is a commitment, it is a process, and if you are willing to put in the time, it would change you more than anything else. Molly Keyser and her husband Aaron Silvernale are successfully building a team and doing so fast. But as Molly will explain to you, it isn't easy, but it is worth it…
Most entrepreneurs start the day reacting to other people and letting the world manage them. They get up in the morning, check email, and start a cycle of reactivity that destroys productivity on a daily basis. By checking the email first thing in the morning, you are proactively making the decision to let anyone who sent you an email manage your time. You are conditioning your body to react and become reactive rather than proactively creating your success and the outcome you are driving towards in the world. This is one of the most distracted habits an entrepreneur can have. This can lead to a cycle of reactivity that will keep you stuck in place and prevent you from moving forward. If you are ready to create more momentum in the first hour of the day, then most people do all day, there is a better way.
Finance and accounting are an absolute function in a business. It's either done or it isn't, there is very little ambiguity. Either a business is provided with clean financials on a monthly basis, or they aren't. Over 90% of the entrepreneurs I talk to are not getting clean books on a monthly basis. A lot of them do not have a solution in place, so not having books is understandable. What is shocking is how many of them have a solution in place, but they have fallen behind for some reason. This is unacceptable. If whatever solution you have in place for accounting and finance is not able to provide you with clean books on a monthly basis, they have a professional responsibility to tell you to find another solution. The one department you can never chase, is finance and accounting. There is more exposure here than just about anywhere else in your business.
