Today I just wanted to talk about the fact that where we started doesn’t mean anything. Our past results don’t mean anything. It’s what we do today, tomorrow and every day moving forward that makes the difference. If you live in the past and it’s good then you’re just living on Glory Days and people get tired of those stories real quick. What are you creating today? What are you doing towards the future? If you live in the past and it was tough, bad, even shit, then all you do is hold yourself in sadness, maybe even depression because you’re living in a head space, reliving events, that you can’t influence or change. There can’t be any new result. The result has happened and you spend your time reviewing the actions that got you that result. But you can’t change the actions. You can’t choose a different ending to that event or period of life. I think back to some of my childhood memories. We grew up in what I would call lower than working class. I mean my parents both worked, so technically I guess we were working class, but truthfully I remember money always being a stress. I remember not having much between paychecks. I won’t go into all the details but for many years I gave myself the value that I felt I was based on how we grew up. Once I started to understand that I controlled my results because I controlled my actions then things changed. See as a kid I wasn’t in control of events happening around me. The value I was given by those around me wasn’t my actual value even if I belied it for many years. I define my value. Not my value to you. Not my value to the world. First and foremost I define my value to me. What do I mean to me? How do I value myself? What’s my worth? This is the same for you, for all of us. The world will never place a higher value on you than you place on yourself. I’ve told you that on this show before and I believe it wholeheartedly.
